Gateway Field Day
Water games, inflatables, relay races, smoothies, a dunk tank, tug-of-war, soccer, music and fun activities are all part of this year’s field day at Gateway!
K-2 and ACP classes will participate in field day activities from 9:00 until 11:50 am.
Grades 3rd thru 6th will participate in field day activities from 12:50-3:50 pm.
This day will provide several different ways for students to engage in physical activity while having fun, learning, and competing against one another!!! What a great way to wrap up the 2018-19 school year!!!!
Motivated Untill The Last Day
It might be a challenge for your child to stay focused as the school year winds down. Inspire your child to continue doing their best by comparing work samples from the beginning of the school year to the end of the year!! Seeing how far they have come over the course of the school year might motivate them to keep growing over these last few days!!!!
Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program at Gateway
The Omaha Public Schools and Gateway Elementary is once again participating in the Summer Food Services Program. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to all children ages 1-18. Meals will be served at the Gateway Elementary cafeteria each Monday thru Friday, from June 3rd thru June 28th, 2019.
Specific serving times will be posted at a later date.
2019-20 School Year
Classroom teachers return for the 2019-20 school year on Wed., Aug 7th. School will begin for all K-6th grade students at Gateway on Wed., Aug. 14th. Early Childhood classes will begin Mon., Aug. 19th. If you have questions, please call Gateway’s main office at 531/299-1480. Thanks!!
Summer Health and Wellness
When school is in session, your child gets daily exercise through recess, P.E. and Health & Wellness class. But during the “lazy” days of summer, students might not be as active as they should be.
Enroll your child in local classes through the parks & recreation department, Kroc Center or YMCA. That way they’ll get regular exercise and remain in contact with their friends from school.
If possible, be an exercise role model for your child. Seeing you active will encourage your child to exercise too. Do fun activities as a family, such as taking walks around the neighborhood, riding bikes, and visiting the Gateway playground!!
Pets on School Grounds
Now that the weather is taking a turn for the better families are spending more and more time outdoors. This outdoor time often includes our pets. Please keep in mind that pets including dogs and cats are not permitted on school grounds.
Many students have a natural curiosity towards animals, but some may not know the best way to approach, touch or play with the animal. This could unintentionally cause a pet to bite. In addition, children with allergies or immune deficiencies may be especially susceptible to allergic reactions; therefore we ask that everyone please refrain from bringing your pets on school grounds.
Box Tops For Education
We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week--or more!! Now turn those shopping trips into easy cash for our school, and encourage friends and family members to do the same! Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios®, Hamburger Helper® and Kleenex®, in almost every aisle of the store. All you need to do is clip and return them to our main office!! Thanks for helping support our school!!
Nebraska Family Helpline
Raising kids is hard. It’s okay to ask for advice. The Nebraska Family Helpline is a free, confidential resource for parents who have questions regarding their child’s behavior. Trained counselors are standing by. Have a question? Give them a call at 1-888-866-8660.
