1:1 Classroom

Dear Martin Elementary School Parents,

I am very excited to announce a big change for your children that is coming up at the Martin Elementary. As of next school year, we will be implementing a 1:1 technology program is every class of our school. Some of you may be wondering what exactly is a 1:1 technology program, and that is a great question. In 1:1 classroom, each students is provided a technology device (laptop, iPad, etc.) in order to aid the students’ learning. 1:1 technology allows students the ability to learn anytime and anywhere. With 1:1 technology, content delivery can be varied from student to student, and teachers can better interact with each and every student.

Don't Worry!

While you may be wary of such a drastic undertaking, we can assure you this initiative has been carefully researched and planned. According to Education World and The Center for Applied Research in Education Technology, there are many benefits of providing students with 1:1 classroom computing tools. Among them include increased student engagement and achievement, broadened learning, and students better prepared for the workplace.

We have carefully reviewed 1:1 programs in similar schools and decided to implement our 1:1 program using Apple iPads. Due to the small size of our school and our effective use of the technology budget, this program will be at no cost to you and there will be no cuts made to provide for this program.

We hope you are excited as we are to begin this program. Below you will find some resources about 1:1 programs and iPad educational apps that you might want to look over this summer. We will be having a program overview session in conjunction with our Fall Open House to go into more depth about this program. We look forward to seeing you all there. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of your children’s teachers or administrative staff for your questions or concerns.

Thank you!
