PARCC Testing for Grades 3, 4, and 5 in April
In April, grade 3, 4, and 5 students will take the PARCC assessment. PARCC is a state required assessment of math and reading taken on the computer. Although we do not use PARCC in the school for specific placement decisions, it is however, meant to provide us a measure of how we perform as a school relative to our surrounding communities and the rest of the state. I, therefore, appreciate it when parents encourage students to do their best on the assessment. Additionally, parent support helps stress to students that they should always work hard on everything the school asks you to do. We structure our curriculum in a way that should allow all of our students to be successful on PARCC as our curriculum reflects the standards PARCC was designed to assess.
Parents of Grade 3, 4, and 5 students, click the link below for the PARCC testing schedule. Your help with scheduling appointments away from these days is greatly appreciated!
Star Constellation Groups Update:
Social Awareness
Responsible Decision Making
Coming Soon:
In our upcoming March Star Constellations lesson on March 23rd, groups will work together to plan and design fence posts. These posts will be constructed into sections of picket fences that will eventually be displayed around WHS! Our hope is that this project will allow our students to demonstrate teamwork with their groups and also create something that will enhance the beauty of our WHS campus!
Thank You Families of WHS Science Fair Participants!
WHS had a total of 54 Hammerschmidt students participate in the D44 Science Fair!
Because we know that participation in this event requires support, encouragement, and investment from family members, I sincerely thank you! It is my hope that all those involved had a fun and rewarding experience!
