Inclusive Practices in the NLRSD

Dr. LeAnn Alexander, Executive Director of Special Services, presented on inclusive practices that are already taking place across the district. Inclusive practices mean students with disabilities are included in the regular classes so that they receive the educational resources and academic rigor as their classmates.

Non-Negotiables for Literacy

The Curriculum Innovation and Design Department presented the districtwide non-negotiables as it relates to literacy. Non-negotiables are clear and specific concepts that students are expected to know and the lessons that teachers are expected to teach.

Five Percent Salary Increase Report

The Board of Education approved the Five Percent Salary Increase Report, presented by Mr. Brian Brown, Chief Financial Officer, and Mr. Jacob Smith, the Executive Director of Human Resources.

Each year, all school districts in Arkansas are required to present a report that represents an increase in the salary paid to a school district employee for performing substantially the same job functions as the employee performed before receiving the salary increase. A school district board of directors shall review and approve by a written resolution an increase in salary of five percent (5%) or more for a school district employee.

District Budget Approved

The Board of Education approved the budget for the 2022-2023 school year. The district has a proposed budget of $114.4 million in revenue and $111.1 million in expenses. The new budget year begins October 1.

Special Board Meeting and Board Workshop

The North Little Rock Board of Education will hold a Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 15, 2022. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held in the Boardroom in the Administration Building, located at 2400 Willow Street.

The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on our YouTube Channel: NLRSD Board Meetings.

NLRSD Literacy Non-Negotiables and Support

The Curriculum Innovation and Design presented on the non-negotiables as it relates to literacy. Non-negotiables are clear and specific expectations for teaching and learning practices that outline the skills and concepts students must be taught and the lessons which teachers must expose their learners. These non-negotiables are Pre-K through 12th Grade.
