New Sport Offerings at WSCA

The WSCA Athletic Department is thrilled to announce we will be offering two new sports this spring, a middle school boys baseball team and a high school girls lacrosse team.

The middle school boys baseball team will be coached by Tom Albani. Tom currently owns a pitching instruction business called Greater Pitching and has spent the last four summers working with Little League Baseball as a pitching instructor, hitting instructor, and head coach. In addition, he has a plethora of experience as an instructor at various baseball camps. Tom graduated from Messiah College where he received his bachelor of science degree in music education. He is currently an active member at Christian Life Assembly.

Joanna Dennstaedt will coach the high school girls lacrosse team this spring. Joanna is a 2004 graduate of Messiah College where she played lacrosse for the Falcons. She was a four year starter and earned NCAA regional All American honors. She was a two-time all conference player and still holds the record for career points per game, most points scored in a season, and all time assists. She went on to be an assistant coach at Messiah College for seven years where she helped lead the falcons to three conference championships and three NCAA appearances.

In addition to her time at Messiah, Joanna was a director for the St. Louis area Gateway Lacrosse Camp for four years, and coached many FCA camps. She also spent a year as a PIAA high school women's lacrosse official. After ending her coaching career to stay home with her kids, Joanna recently found herself back on the field with her husband, Kevin, as a coach for the Cumberland Valley Lacrosse Eagle chicks program. Kevin was also an All American lacrosse player at Messiah College. Joanna and Kevin have four children, two of whom currently attend WSCA.

We are excited for the expansion of our athletic program, and thrilled to have Tom and Joanna join the Bobcat coaching staff!

Save the Date - Lynette Tress Celebratory Open House February 21, 2016

In November of 2015, Lynette Tress officially completed her term as Lower School Principal. Lynette has already settled into her new office and position as Assistant Head of School for Advancement and Alumni Relations. While located in a new office in the Upper School, Lynette’s position remains a Senior Leadership Team position with PK-12 oversight and impact. Lynette has jumped into her new role and is already hard at work on multiple projects, including: formalizing a WSCA Alumni Association, planning the alumni patio project, developing an Alumni website page and “Alumni Spotlight”, organizing the December Paint Night for parents and Alumni, arranging the WSCA and Messiah Alumni reception hosted at Messiah College, planning Grandfriends Day, and more! She is also a Foundation Board member with oversight for the Race for Education committee and Events Committee. We are deeply thankful for Lynette’s leadership of the Lower School for many years and I look forward to her continued partnership as a senior leadership team member. Join us for an open house as we celebrate Lynette Tress' faithful service to WSCA on Sunday, February 21, from 1:30-4:00 pm in the Santos Center.
