Winter Break Message
From Superintendent Deagle
The December Lion's Share
With Superintendent Deagle
A theme I have identified this year for Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is joy: peace with the past, confidence in the future, and joy for the here and now. Of course, it is during this season that the joy of giving comes to mind.
As the superintendent of our district of excellence, I see giving each and every day inside our classrooms. It brings me great joy to see our teachers and staff giving their time and relentless energy to each of our students. The gift of a safe and welcoming educational environment is our top priority as a district.

Lincoln Elementary
The fourth grade at Lincoln Elementary did a lesson to build empathy towards seniors who are living in senior living communities and who might feel lonely, especially around the holidays.
The students then created icicle ornaments and holiday cards to show the seniors they are not alone and a caring kid somewhere is thinking about them.
Middle School West
Middle School West mixes hip-hop into their orchestra classroom with a workshop by Stephen Spottswood.

GLHS World War II Class Learns from Powerful Speaker
Jennifer Candor's GLHS history class listened to speaker Mark Ebner describe his father, Murray Ebner's journey as a Holocaust survivor. At the age of thirteen, Ebner and his family were among the tens of thousands of Jews captured and sent to live in the ghetto of Bochnia in Poland.
The class was shown a documentary following the Ebner family as Murray Ebner returned to Poland in 2001 for the first time in more than 50 years and relived his years in four camps, including Auschwitz.
