Enrichment Class Registration

Welcome back, everyone. If you're reading this, then you must have survived the holidays. Did anyone actually make it to midnight on New Year's Eve? (Really, it's OK if you didn't. I'm willing to admit I went to bed at 9:05. Life is a far cry from that New Year's in Bangkok back in 1992.)

So, it's a new year. And with a new year, there comes a new round of after-school enrichment classes. If you are interested in signing your child up, the flyers will be posted and registration begins on Monday, January 8, with the spring session scheduled to start February 5. You can find more information on the enrichment class board in the school lobby and on the Thornhill school website.

Annual Fundraiser Auction – Saturday, February 24

The annual Thornhill fundraiser auction is coming up, and will take place on Saturday February 24 from 6-11 p.m. at the Ascension Cathedral Community Center 4700 Lincoln Avenue in Oakland. The theme of this year's auction is "Heroes and Villains."

Tickets are on sale here at a discounted price of $129 per couple through January 31. Please remember...Tickets must be purchased in advance. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

Donations

The auction would not be possible without the generous donations from Thornhill families, friends and the community! The PDF form is here - send it to anyone that might have something to donate!

Want to help by calling a list of businesses for donations? Awesome! We could really use the help - fill out this super short google form to let us know you can help pick up the phone.

Buy an ad in our catalog

Do you have a little business? Let the Thornhill Community know and buy an ad in our auction catalog! Just sent Vinay an email at benefit@thornhillschool.org if you are interested or need more information.

Parties

Many families create/host “Pay-to-Play” parties. These are events where many people can sign up at a set price per person and then everyone enjoys the party together. The costs are usually minimal (food/drink) so that most of the money goes to Thornhill. Start thinking of your fun party!

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Auction Committee at: benefit@thornhillschool.org.

Thornhill Parent-Buddy Program

For some of you, your first days at Thornhill are not so long ago. For others, it may seem like a lifetime has passed since you first came to the school.

We know that it can be challenging to get the lay of the land in terms of where to go for information, how to volunteer, who to ask about just how in the heck you are supposed to park around the school. This can be even harder for families who start at Thornhill mid-year.

With all that in mind, we are initiating a Parent-Buddy Program to help bridge the gaps and ensure a smooth transition for these families into our community.

We are looking for a Parent-Buddy Volunteer to represent each grade. What does this entail?

  • As new families enter Thornhill, you will be notified by the office staff and will then initiate contact with the family, letting them know that you are their Buddy.
  • You will be provided with a welcome packet that contains basic information/FAQs that you will give to new parents.
  • Beyond that, you can check in on the family periodically, make sure they're signed up for Konstella and the PFC newsletter, ask them how they're doing, plan a casual playdate, etc.
  • It's a great way to connect with new families!

If you would like to volunteer, please email: vpcommunications@thornhillschool.org

Thank you for your support!
