A Message from the Principals

Hello Millbridge Families,

Happy New Year to you all and a very warm welcome to 2023. It is our hope that you all had a wonderful and restful winter break. It has been a pleasure seeing all the students back in the building after a well deserved break. Just a reminder, as the temperatures start to dip, children need to be dressed appropriately to go outside for recess.

Please continue to view our school website for any updated pictures. We will be celebrating our Respectful Cubs of The Month at the end of the month. It is a very tough decision for the teachers. We have so many respectful students here at Millbridge.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Our continued thanks for your cooperation, support, and participation in assisting to educate your children.

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Massey and Mrs. Murphy

Therapy Dog and Handler

Millbridge School has been invited to participate in a Therapy Dog Program. Therapy dogs are trained to work with children in schools to promote social-emotional wellness, communication skills, and to increase academic performance in reading. The handler is the owner of the dog and both have been through a training program to become registered to perform this service.

Permission slips have already been sent home. Please return the form by Tuesday, January 17th.

Spring Conferences

Spring Conferences were originally scheduled for March 17th. This has been changed to March 16th. Spring conferences will be in the afternoon and evening and are by invite only. More information will be provided as the date gets closer. We wanted to make you aware of the date change.

Big picture

Medication

Any medication needs to be brought in by the parent/guardian, along with the prescription, and given directly to the nurse. Please do not send any medication in with the student.

Student Absences

Please be advised that according to our board policy, students need a doctor's note for an absence to be excused. Below you will find the exceptions which can also be found in our board policy.

Exceptions will be made for excused absences which include: (1) illness as certified by a physician within five days; (2) student’s required attendance in court inclusive of documentation; (3) excused religious observances; (4) Take Your Child to Work day; and (5) necessary and unavoidable medical or dental appointments that cannot be scheduled at a time other than the school day. Absences due to vacation are unexcused and are discouraged.

Snack at School

In order to ensure that all students with life-threatening allergies are safe at school, we ask that everyone adhere to this safe snack list.

Important Information: Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast & Lunch can be purchased. We encourage parents begin an account and place money on their student account. Please click here for the breakfast order form.

LOST AND FOUND

Each year, we have countless items ranging from winter coats to backpacks that are lost. We strongly encourage parents to LABEL EVERYTHING with your child’s name, teacher and bus letter. Lost and found items are kept in the gym and put out periodically throughout the year.

Become an Observer in Canvas

If you have not already done so, please be sure to become an observer for your child(ren) in Canvas. The information below is from the district's webpage and will help you become a co-observer. If you have multiple children, you will be able to see everything for them in one place. Teachers will be providing a weekly overview for parents and notes for the week in Canvas.

To enable co-enrollment (observer) in Canvas K-12 your student will need to generate a pairing code and you will need to link the account. A parent may pair (link) to multiple children in the same parent (observer) account.

You will need to set up the pairing through a web browser like Chrome. You cannot enable pairing or observing through the parent app.

Co-enrollment means you can view grades, upcoming assignments and due dates, missing work, and teacher communication.

Teachers can send individual, group, and course-wide messages to students and parents.

Once you're co-enrolled, you'll want to set-up your notification preferences. Click here for instructions on setting up your notification preferences.
