Weekly Wrap Up at West Side!
For Parents/Guardians- 9/18/23
Happy Monday! I just want to remind you all that we have a few important events coming up this week with parents and grandparents. Grandparent breakfast will be held on two separate days. Prek-2nd today, Sept.18th and 3rd-5th will be on Sept. 20th. Breakfast begins as early as 7:00 and is over promptly at 8:00 so that instruction can begin. We will also have our P.O.W.W.O.W night on this Thursday, 9/21.Doors open at 5:45. Please RSVP to your teacher by tomorrow, 9/19. Pizza will be served! We can't wait to see you all at West Side!
I want to give a special thanks to parents/guardians for allowing students to support our PBIS snack sale on Friday. The students seem to enjoy it! We will have our Kona Ice sale on Friday, Sept. 29th.
Each week I want to talk a little about our Leader In Me habits. We have seven habits with the first being, Be Proactive . This week I want to mention habit 2 which is Begin with the End in Mind. This habit focuses on clearly defining a vision and defining the outcomes before acting. We want our students to make a plan before acting and focus on long term goals.
We would like to continue to encourage all students to be at school each day. We are having a perfect attendance drawing at the end of September. Those with perfect attendance will be entered into a drawing for free ice cream and a basket with a lot of fun art supplies and goodies. Remember, attendance matters. If a student simply misses 2 days a month each month that equals 20 days a year. It would also equal 30 hours of math and 60 hours of reading/writing each year. Although it may not seem like much, it does add up.
Just a few reminders:
We LOVE parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Parent Involvement Coordinator, Amy Blankenship. She will be able to discuss volunteer opportunities.
