JAGUAR JOURNAL: Coming Friday, May 1st!

Next Friday, your child's teacher will be pushing out a link to a FlipGrid entitled, Jaguar Journal. Students and staff will be able to post a quick 30 second video to say hello to Jaguar Nation! We are asking that each student post only one video and then go on to watch all of the other posts. If this has a positive response, it could potentially recur weekly on Fridays, through the end of school. Video submissions will be monitored /approved, and commenting options will be disabled.

Hi there! As we celebrate National Library Week this week, I wish I could spend time with each of our grade levels reading aloud! But since that isn't possible, our library department has worked to be creative and to provide encouragement for our parents and families at home. I'm including these two pieces for you to use at home with your child(ren):

  • Sora Video - this short video provides a fun introduction/reminder of e-book availability and access for students.

  • Flipgrid - librarians and library clerks have recorded book talks -- there are some very entertaining options here!

Remember that you can always connect with me via email or on Schoology!

Be watching for communication from us with details as to how you and your family can help show the love to our Jaguar teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week: May 4-8, 2020!

National Volunteer Week is April 19th - 25th and we want to recognize all our PTA volunteers. We certainly can’t make a difference for Sunset Valley’s students, staff, and families without you! We have volunteers who serve in numerous capacities from helping run stations at class parties to providing food to SVEl’s staff, and everything in between. We are grateful for your time, commitment to Sunset Valley, and serving with a smile. Thank you for all you do!

Are You Moving?

If your family has plans to move either within or out of the LSR7 school district this summer and your child(ren) will no longer be attending SVE, please contact our Attendance Secretary/Registrar, Mrs. Lydia Kirkham ( as soon as possible. Doing so will ensure that we have accurate numbers to begin our school year and ensure that we get all of the required paperwork to your child's new school. Additionally, if you have plans to home school or return to SVE from home schooling, please share this as soon as possible as well. We would like to make transitions in and out of SVE as smooth as possible for everyone.

Read Along with SVE Staff via Schoology

In addition to joining your child's teacher or grade level "group" on Schoology, please be sure to ask your child if they have joined the Read Along with SVE Staff Course on Schoology, too! This course was started at the beginning of the school year and features teachers and staff reading books aloud for our Jaguar Nation to enjoy. Many students have joined already, and we will be positing additional book readings here, so be sure to get connected! (The access code to join is shown to the left.)
