Congratulations Henderson Distinguished Young Woman Bailey Holmes! Bailey finished in the top 12 and won the fitness preliminary award at the State DYW!
Shout out to Samarah Courtney, SoFA student, whose artwork was chosen to be shown at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville. Out of all the statewide entries, Samarah’s was in the top 5! Congrats!
The HCHS Archery team participated in the SHMS Wildcat Classic in Madisonville KY. Top three teams were awarded and the Top 5 Female/ Male were awarded.

Congrats to the Boys Varsity Bowling Team they defeated Owensboro 7-0 last night to go undefeated (9-0) for the season. High game honors go to Nick Owens and Conner Book with a 222 & 205. Both Boys and Girls teams will compete in Regionals this Friday & Saturday in Bowling Green.

Lobby Entrance Now Open - The new entrance in the main lobby is now open. Students if you have to turn in an attendance note or get called down to pick something up there is a service window in the lobby that you will turn in or pick items up from. The doors on the left are for entrance only and the doors on the right are for exiting the building if you are being checked out.

Dear Princess,
Have you considered going to prom, but cost of a dress makes the dream out of reach? Come to Cinderella’s Closet and let our Fairy Godmothers make you the Belle of the Ball in the dress of your dreams – all for free. You have been selected to receive a prom package including a dress and accessories at no cost to you. All you need to do is make an appointment with your high school’s Youth Services Center coordinator, Shawna Evans, and get ready to be treated like a princess.
The Princess Treatment – What to expect at Cinderella’s Closet-
« You will be able to select one dress from our inventory over 1000 formal gowns guided by your own personal Fairy Godmother. Come ready to be pampered.
« Accessories including shoes, jewelry and make-up will be chosen to complete your look, based on availability.
« Minor Alterations will be provided on-site to make your dress fit for a princess.
« All items selected are free of charge and are yours to keep.
« Please feel free to bring one adult female with you during your time at Cinderella’s Closet.
Appointments at Cinderella’s Closet may be made on the following days at one-half hour increments. Appointments must be made by your school’s Youth Services Center coordinator, please do not contact Cinderella’s Closet directly. Remember to allow at least 1.5 hours to 2 hours for your appointment. After your time is set, you will receive an appointment certificate.

The Owensboro Extension Campus of University of Louisville’s School of Nursing will be hosting an Open House on February 2nd at 2pm. This will provide attendees with a look at Owensboro’s ONLY traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This is a very successful program allowing students to remain close to home while earning the credentials needed to work as a Registered Nurse and beyond. The Open House will include a breakdown of the program, a campus tour, and nursing lab demonstrations with current nursing students. Please share with your students! RSVP’s are requested and may be completed here. All grade levels are welcome, along with parents, guardians, counselors and teachers!

University of Evansville-Engineering OPTIONS Summer Camp for High School Girls
WHO can attend?
- High school girls currently in grades 9, 10, or 11 who have completed geometry. Prior participants in OPTIONS who are currently still in high school are also invited and will be eligible for priority registration.
WHAT is OPTIONS Harlaxton Experience 2018?
- The University of Evansville Engineering OPTIONS for High School Girls program teaches participants about the exciting and rewarding career opportunities available in engi- neering and computer science.
- The Harlaxton Experience 2018 will be a 10-day program in London, England, and nearby Harlaxton College.
- Participants will be accompanied by UE engineering faculty and counselors.
- Hands-on activities will be conducted at Harlaxton College.
- Field trips to places such as Bletchley Park, Isaac Newton’s home, and Pier Wind Farm offer a look at important his- torical sites and the opportunity to see engineering careers in action, as well as exposure to international perspectives.
- Participants will interact with women mentors who work in engineering fields.
- A closing program, prepared and presented by the partic- ipants at Harlaxton, provides experience in public speaking and thought organization.
WHEN is the camp?*
- Depart Evansville for London on Thursday, June 28, spend five nights at Harlaxton, followed by three nights in London, then return to Evansville on Saturday, July 7.
WHERE is Harlaxton College?
- Harlaxton College is in Grantham, England, just one hour north of London by train.
Cost and Other Information*
- The cost, which is all inclusive, is $3,000 per participant. Scholarships may be available at a later date.
- Acceptance is limited to 20 participants. Application deadline is February 12, 2018.

Parent Academy Wednesday 2/21/18
HCHS invites all current 8th – 11th grade parents whose child will be attending HCHS in the fall to our annual scheduling Parent Academy. The Parent Academy will be held on Wednesday February 21, 2018 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. From 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm in the auditorium, the student ambassador candidates will be presenting information about HCHS. Starting at 6:00 pm, we will have breakout sessions in which parent can learn specific information about how to help with their child’s schedule. Guidance Counselors and teachers will be on hand to help with any questions you may have. Please make sure and join us!
