Youth Winter Nature Programs
Nurturing Nature - February 6th, 4:30-5pm @ District Community Room (303 North St. Boyne City)
RSVP Required - 231-582-6193
Backyard Nature Program - February 18th, 10-11am @ Boyne Library.
No RSVP Required
Both of these programs offer similar content, however the Backyard Nature Program has a short hike involved, whereas Nurturing Nature is the story & activity only.
Program Info:
Read a fun story about animals and how they adapt to the winter compared to humans. The library group will venture outdoors for a quick hike in search of animal activity in the winter, while the nurturing nature group will move directly to the activity.
Activity:
We will look at different animals and the different prints and patterns they leave behind in the snow. We will learn how to identify 4 different track patterns. The children will also use animal track stamps and create their own stamp art with animal tracks.
We are also hoping to have some animal pelts available on loan from the Little Traverse Conservancy!
Both programs are free, but offered at different times to help accommodate working and stay-at-home parent schedules. Please feel free to let us know if alternative times or days of the week are better!

Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP)
Phase 1 Educational Meetings - Winter/Spring 2020
The next Phase 1 workshop will be offered late winter, early Spring, with details to be released soon. Because our MAEAP Technician travels throughout 4 northern Michigan counties, the workshops tend to rotate. However with our new community room, we will be doing our best to host as many of these as possible.
Please feel free to inform us of specific conservation topics you would like to see information shared about for these workshops. Contact our office for more information about the MAEAP program, or the Phase 1 Educational Workshops. Farmers who attend these workshops receive credit to go towards their farm verification for the MAEAP program.
For more information about MAEAP, please visit www.maeap.org, or contact MAEAP Technician, Chris Anderson at the District office, 231-582-6193.
