Cheetah Fun Run - October 17th!!
It is time for our PTA’s annual Fall “FUN”draiser Cheetah Fun Run! The Cheetah Fun Run is our annual fall fundraiser and health-awareness mission. For an entire month, students are educated on how to live a healthier lifestyle and are encouraged to put their learning into practice. Our efforts culminate with the Cheetah Fun Run. On this day, students run laps around Coach Stobbie’s Track, as well as participate in various health-related activity stations provided by local businesses.
In addition, students are asked to help raise funds to support the many programs offered by the PTA and receive prizes for their efforts! This year our focus is to improve and expand PTA programming to further meet the needs of our students, teachers, staff, and school campus. Let’s try to match last year’s goal of $30,000! No donation is too small! Go to pledgestar.com/lawton to donate online.
Health & Wellness Activities
These are fun ideas for the whole family to become health conscious and active together:
- Participate in Morning Mile
- Participate in Walk/Bike to School Day Friday, October 2.
- Listen & watch for daily health tips and facts on the morning news, marquee, cafeteria monitors & Facebook page. Remember ... Health trivia questions will be asked for prizes at the Cheetah Fun Run!!
- Write your OWN health tip or fact that could be selected to appear on any of the above mentioned media. There will be a container in the main office for you to drop them in. A prize will be awarded for health tips or facts selected to appear on social media.
- Share HEALTHY, family-friendly recipes on our Facebook page @ LCESPTA! Family, friends, faculty and staff are invited to "spread the health"!!!
- Take on the Weekly Health & Wellness Challenge: each week we will announce on the morning news a health & wellness challenge for students and their families to complete. Students who return their bookmark with ALL of the challenges completed and signed off by an adult will receive a prize.

Friends of the Earth Committee
The Friends of the Earth (or just FotE) committee was created in 2019 to celebrate Earth Day (did you see all the trash we spread around school?), with a mission to raise awareness about the trash we produce and the things (specially food) that we waste, and how our everyday choices may lead to pollution and global warming, but how little changes we make, can make a big difference. We believe that educating and getting our children involved is the most important step to changing some habits and taking our planet into consideration in every decision we make.
We will have many surprises along this year, so stay tuned! We have a Facebook page for sharing tips, (look for friends of the earth in Gainesville), and if you want to help or even just show your support, our email address is: fote.lces@gmail.com!
Volunteer Application
Our school loves volunteers! Before you can volunteer on campus or chaperone a field trip, you must fill out the volunteer application online:
New Diversity Committee!
Kindness Corner
Kindness can make a bad day good and a good day better.
We will be holding our Second Annual Kindness In Chalk Day on October 7. Students are asked to wear blue to show their support of spreading kindness!
Box Tops for Education
We need your Box Tops! Box Tops have gone digital and most products now require you to submit your store receipt within 14 days of purchasing a product with a box top logo on it. You can easily download an app on your phone and do this as soon as you get your receipt! The Box Tops organization is still accepting the box tops you clip off the product if you happen to find them in the store. Please send them in!
This year, we have some school wide incentives for Box Tops:
At $500 - hat day
At $1,000 - silly outfit day (backwards shirts, mismatch socks, etc.)
At $1,500 (our ultimate goal!) - PJ day and a cookie for each kid!
Be on the lookout for the Box Top logo on products you're already buying (similar to the image on the left) and help support your favorite Chiles Cheetahs!
