WHOOOO GIVES A HOOT ABOUT READING?
Students will be given owl bookmarks and will record reading minutes on those. Each section is 15 minutes of reading and parents and teachers need to initial those sections for their children. Each completed bookmark earns 5 house points when students turn them in to their homeroom teachers. There will also be dress up days and students who participate will earn points for their houses.

February 14th---dress your best day
February 16th get up and go day---Pjs and sweats--no slippers
February 23rd Triton Pride day--cobra clothing, jerseys, Triton colors
March 2nd (Dr. Seuss' birthday)---Superhero day
ZED Creative Writing Contest
Every year the Zumbro Education District sponsors a creative writing contest for students in 5th grade through 12th grade. This year marked the twenty-fourth annual contest and the prompt was “The day I met…” Students choose how to interpret this prompt and let their creativity take them away in the form of poetry or prose.
This year, 329 students from Blooming Prairie, Byron, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville, Pine Island, Stewartville and Triton submitted works to ZED. The students’ submissions were separated into divisions based on grade level and prose or poetry. Each piece was then read and judged anonymously by volunteers from all districts. The work with the highest score in each division was awarded an Exemplary. A score above 80 earned the writer an Honorable Mention.
Triton had 34 writers this year and 8 of those writers received Honorable Mentions! Congratulations to Jozey Boe (Elementary), Natalie Donner (High), Makena Jensen (Middle), Kaitlyn Krupa (Middle), Hayden Rubin (High), Jacelyn Schley (High), Caitlin St. Andrew (Middle), and Ella Woxland (Middle). Thank you for sharing your writing talent!
Spring Musical Auditions
Students wishing medium to large parts must be committed to regular practices. Singing-only parts are more flexible and can often work around other school activities. Most rehearsals are after school in February, but there are some evening practices in later March and, of course, April. The musical runs April 5-8.
6th Grade Trip - Welch Village
Please note that all forms and money need to be returned to Mrs. Bungum by Monday, February 13.
