Merry Halloween from Marie Murphy School!
Haven Highlights Diversity & Respect in Workshops With MM Students
On Halloween, all Marie Murphy students participated in workshops with counselors from Haven Youth and Family Services. The goal of their discussions was to promote diversity and respect for others. Engaging in dialogues, reflections, and cooperative role plays, the presenters looked to move students from a basic understanding of diversity, respect, and empathy to developing skills necessary for showcasing what cultural humility looks like.
The workshop opens avenues for important, powerful conversations to kids are a part of, and in an effort to help you engage your children about these topics, Haven has provided the following talking points for parents below. The talking points are developed with a progression in mind from short, to mid, to long term growth and development.
MM'S First Quarter Comes to a Close
Marie Murphy's first quarter of the year wrapped up on Friday, October 25, although some teachers have been working with students to finalize grades this last week.
While MM does not issue a formal report card at the end of first quarter (formal grade reports with teacher comments are available at the completion of first semester in late January and again at the end of the school year), please be sure to log into PowerSchool to review your child's 1st quarter performance. This is a great opportunity to celebrate with your child their successes in starting out the year. It also allows you and your child to engage in a dialog regarding opportunities for improvement for the rest of the year.
