September 16th, 2022

Open House

Thank you all for attending Open House last night. It was so good to see friendly faces back in the building after two years of virtual open houses. Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

TMS Student Fundraiser Begins Today!

The 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip has been a tradition for many years. To make this trip affordable for everyone, we have a number of fundraisers students can participate in beginning in 6th grade. Monies earned by students is kept in an account to be used by them in the future.

A number of our students have received donations from family and friends. The only way we are able to secure 100% of that donation to be applied to a students’ account is to receive it by check. Checks should be made payable to: Tyngsborough Middle School

Please include the students name in the memo section of the check.

Note if the $20 donation is purchased through our gift catalog “Tis the Season”, students will only receive 70% of that donation ($14.00).

Student Council is looking for donations for this year's Blanket Drive!

The Annual Blanket Drive is a great way for our students to give back to the community; by making blankets to be donated to our Police Department, Fire Department, as well as members of our town in need during the colder months.

If you are able to donate to the drive, we are asking for 2 yard pieces of fleece. Any donations can be dropped off at TMS to Mrs. Slattery.

Thank you for supporting our great cause!

If your child will be Absent, Tardy or will need to be Dismissed during the school day, please call the school at 978-649-3115 and use prompt #1, or you may email, our new attendance email address. Thank you!

EGG DROP, no soup!

In Mr. Holgate's science class on Friday afternoon, they conducted our first lab of the year in groups of 2 or 3. The purpose of the lab was to work collaboratively to create an egg cradle with limited supplies to ensure egg survives the fall.

Materials included fat and skinny straws, scotch tape, and a plastic baggy or red solo cup.

Good luck to all our student-athletes this season!

Student Information Form

Each year all students must have an updated Student Information Form submitted through the parent portal. The information form, accessible through the parent portal, is used to collect items such as family information, emergency contact data, and medical permissions. It is crucial that you complete this form as soon as possible. Failure to submit this form will affect your student’s ability to attend field trips, participate in after-school activities, and receive medications from the school nurse.

Sixth Grade Parents Field Trip Permission Slip

Last year, Nature’s classroom came to TMS and students had an amazing experience exploring nature, dissecting fish eyeballs, and participating in numerous cooperative team-building activities. This year we are lucky to have the opportunity to take our 6th graders to Nature’s Classroom in Groton, Ma so that they can take part in the hands-on, project-based classes provided on their campus. The activities at Nature’s Classroom work on communication skills, cooperation, commitment, and caring. At TMS, we foster teamwork and encourage our students to collaborate and problem-solve together. These team-building activities will help to instill in our students a sense of community and improve individual self-esteem.

Permission slips for the November 1st Field Trip have been sent out. If you have already paid for this trip, we have it documented.

Combination Locks & Agenda Books will be for sale in the office for the next month.

Locks are $8.00 each and Agenda Books are $5.00 each ($13.00 for both). Please see

Mrs. Pelletier or Mrs. Leo in the office.

If your student is bringing in their own lock, we ask that you give the combination to the main office in case your student has issues with their lock. If we don't have the combination, we may have to cut off the lock.

The State has approved free lunches for all students again this year. Additional lunches and other items will be for sale in the cafeteria through the school year.

Parents can still load money into their student’s My School Bucks account for additional purchases at the register (items such as cookies, etc.)

We will be offering a number of after school activities for students again this year.

If your child is interested in participating in athletics, here is the INFORMATION .

We will also have a number of extracurricular activities for students to choose from. Additionally, students can find me if they have an interest in starting something new!

Late Bus will run at 3:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays when extra-curricular activities are happening.

Late Bus (and Academic Club) will begin September 27th.

Each grade establishes snack time during their morning classes (usually between 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m.). Students are welcome to bring in healthy (hopefully) snacks that they can eat in their classes. We ask that they be nut free if at all possible. Additionally, we are asking this year that students do not arrive at school with morning beverages (coffee, tea, etc). Students will not be allowed to take them into their advisory.
