Leadership Message

Hip Hip Hooray for the First Week of School!

What a wonderful first week back we have had with our Saint John XXIII family! A week full of excitement, connections, smiles, celebrations, and blessings! The commitment and passion for teaching and learning is very evident in every classroom at Saint John XXII. At our staff meeting we shared our "moments" from the first day and I can assure you that these amazing SJ staff members hold your children with the utmost care and dedication.

Thank-you for the blessing and privilege of walking with your children this year. I look forward to seeing the "masterpieces" God has brushed us with at Saint John XXIII.

Mrs. Boehm

We LOVE to Read!

This year we will highlight and celebrate our love of reading with our SJ students. Our EICS staff will share their favourite books and have them available in our library for students to explore. This week we share Ms. Trainor's favourite children's story. Ms. Trainor is our AWESOME custodian.

Please take note of some of the awesome upcoming workshops offered in our area.

Attendance Reporting Procedures - School Messenger

Please click on this link for important information on the best way to let us know that your child will be late or away from school.

It is our first priority every morning to ensure that all students are accounted for. Using this new tool helps us to expedite this process to ensure the safe arrival of all of our students. We appreciate your partnership in keeping our little people safe.

We are Health Champions

As part of our Healthy Champions focus, this month in our daily announcements we are talking about breakfast. Here is an example of one of our announcements:

"Rise and Shine, it’s Breakfast time! Eggs are a great way to start your day. Did you know that eggs are part of the Meat and Alternatives food group because they give you protein? Eggs are great scrambled, boiled or poached, and they cook really quickly too."

Check out our Healthy Champion board for ideas on Choose Most Often and Choose Sometimes Options.

Thank-you Shell Scotford for the AMAZING First Day Welcome!

Bus, Parking, Drop off, Pick ups...

Thank-you to all of our Saint John XXIII families for the care and attention you showed this week with pick ups, drop offs, and school zones. Most students and their families have pre-arranged "meeting spots" that enable our students to meet their parents safely after school.

We recognize that there were a number of transportation issues that were smoothed out as the week went on. Thank-you for your patience and cooperation as our Transportation department worked through these challenges.

Parish Connections

Sacramental Preparation

On behalf of the Sacramental Preparation Committee, we wish to welcome all those preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation in the 2018/19 session.

We encourage and invite all families and children to join us for 11am Mass this Sunday, September 9th. We will be hosting an Information Session immediately following fellowship (approximately 12:30 pm), which will include a variety of information regarding all three of the Sacraments, as well as a special guest speaker. There will also be a Meet and Greet for Father Kris as part of fellowship to welcome him to our Faith Community.

Registration forms for all 3 Sacraments will be available following the Information Session.

Please find attached a copy of the 2018 Sacramental Preparation document for your reference which includes the dates for classes, rehearsals and celebrations for each Sacrament.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Celebrating Sacraments

We would like to celebrate our students' faith journeys this year. We are asking that parents send in a 4x6 picture of your child from the day of their Sacrament celebration and write their name and date of Sacrament on the back of the picture. We will then add their special picture to our Sacrament Board.
