A Note from Julie Norby
Dear Santa Fe Families,
I wanted to give you an update on the Principal selection process. As many of you know, we were scheduled to do interviews the week after school was out. The decision was made to extend the deadline for applicants, resulting in having to delay the interview process. We interviewed 6 very diverse applicants on Tuesday, July 2. Dr. Nancy Lynch, our district Superintendent, then did a second round of interviews on July 3.
I am pleased to announce that Stephan Bering has been selected as the new principal of Solana Santa Fe! Mr. Bering comes to Solana Beach from Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District where he has served as an elementary school principal since 2006 in California Distinguished Schools. With seventeen years of education experience, he has served as a high school teacher, vice principal, and an elementary school principal.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bering and believe that he is a good match for Solana Santa Fe. His warm personality, love for children and his strong desire to work with teams to bring innovation and excellence to his school are all attributes that will serve Solana Santa Fe well! Stephan recognizes that Santa Fe is not a school that needs someone to come in and “fix” them! He is looking forward to working with our excellent staff and our involved parent group to continue the great work that is happening at Solana Santa Fe.
I will be meeting with Mr. Bering this next week to begin the transition process. I know that he is anxious to introduce himself to the staff and to the community. Please be on the lookout for his letter of introduction in the next couple of weeks.
I’d like to thank all of you for the past 21 years of service at Solana Santa Fe! Santa Fe is a very special place and the involved and caring parent community is part of what makes it so special! I look forward to working with Stephan as he takes over the helm at Santa Fe. I know that the Solana Santa Fe community will welcome Stephan and support this transition. Change can be hard, but it also can be very stimulating and rewarding! Enjoy the rest of your summer, August will be here before you know it!
Sincerely,
Julie Norby
