We have had another busy week in kindergarten and are busy preparing for our holiday program this coming Thursday, December 19th at 9:00 a.m. You received a note about what to wear the day of the performance. I hope you can attend...it is going to be awesome and will "warm" your heart.! Our holiday party is on December 19th at 11:30. Thank you Mrs. Wickerham for organizing our party and painting our reindeer shirts!
MEGA MINUTE forms for the 2nd Nine Weeks are due next FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20th! Please turn in your minutes so we can celebrate all our readers!! Remember, ALL minutes count toward our class total!
We are working on:
- Building our sight word vocabulary- W.O.W. Study- our new words this week are: come, his, will, us, them
- Knowing letter sounds and blending sounds together to make words
- Working on recognizing rhyming words
- Counting, blending, and segmenting syllables
- Features of Non-fiction text
- Writing a "small moments" story and creating our own books- students are illustrating and phonetically spelling words to write a story
- Working in guided reading groups- please have your child read the book to you and return it the next day
- Working independently in Daily Five centers to become better readers, writers, and spellers
We are working on:
- Recognizing and knowing the value of coins; penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and the dollar bill
- Counting by fives, tens and ones to 100
- Counting forward beginning from a given number in sequence
- Writing numbers and counting sets to 20
- 1-1 correspondence
- Comparing sets- more, less, same
- Using our Math tools- the rekenrek and number line
- Using graphs to compare data
- Working on problem solving skills
- Using "number talks" to explain our math thinking
We are working on:
- Learning about the effect of gravity on objects
- Learning about goods and services
REMINDERS
- Waffle House fundraiser for Relay for Life is Monday, December 16th. Students can eat waffles for $1.00
- Mark your calendars for our Kindergarten Holiday Program on Thursday, December 19th at 9:00 a.m.
- MEGA MINUTE forms are DUE: Friday, December 20th!!
- Winter Break is from December 23rd- January 6th
- Have you seen our Lost and Found at Craig? It's full of jackets, hoodies, shirts, lunchboxes, and other stuff kids have lost. If you think your child is missing anything, please come to school and look. The tables are located right outside the cafeteria. In January, all leftover items will be donated to charity.

Way to go Mrs. Lamparter's Kindergartners for reading the MOST minutes the 1st Nine Weeks in kindergarten!!! Make sure you record what you read each night and then turn in your minutes at the end of the 2nd Nine Weeks.
