St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 5 | 26 May 2023

Good afternoon everyone,
Week 5 is always Wellness Week here at St Bernie’s and I hope you were able to find some time to spend on yourselves and your family. Our staff and students have been doing the same here at school and I hope you all enjoyed a week without homework. As a staff we did our best to make it a fun and engaging week for the kids with a host of fun, wellness activities run by staff and students.
On Thursday our Interschool Basketball Teams represented the school with pride and displayed excellent sportsmanship skills across the day. We had some good wins, and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Mrs Bowe and Mr Harrison for supporting our students at the carnival.
On Tuesday our Year 4 students spent the day at Kolbe to have a look around and to get excited for all the opportunities high school has to offer. Our students came back to school with many fun stories and enjoyed the different lessons they participated in. A reminder to all our parents that, like here at Bernie’s, it is really important that you enrol your children in high school as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
I have had a couple of queries from parents lately around our canteen and the sharing of food between students, especially in the younger years. Our staff do their best to make sure that students do not share food and we will continue to remind them regularly. It would be great if this could be reiterated at home. I have also spoken to the canteen about students buying each other food and they are aware of our rules and do their best to make sure there is no sharing. These are important rules as it means that parents are in control of what their children are eating.
Can I also please remind parents that our school gates open at 8.15am and students should be getting to school at or after this time. There is no supervision outside before this time and I have had a couple of reports that students have arrived very early and are hanging around out the front. If students are dropped off a minute or two early, can I please ask you to ensure they know to sit and wait calmly and stay away from the road. Oshclub also run from 7.00am as we do not have the staff or resources to open earlier than this.
Enjoy the weekend.

St Bernadette's Parish Pastoral Renewal Survey
Parents are asked to join in a survey, with the parishioners, to help collect information on our St Bernadette Parish. To complete the survey parents can use this QR code.
This survey is designed to find out what St Bernadette’s Parish is doing well, what areas need to improve and events that parents have enjoyed or would like to see. There is also a section based on volunteering and the ministries that parents, if able, can be involved in.
Once all the data is collated, St Bernadette’s Parish will be able to prioritise areas for improvement and create steps towards this. It is a process that the St. Bernadette’s Parish Council is hoping many parents will be involved in and we look forward to seeing the responses. Those who also belong to the parish can find a paper copy in the foyer of the Church.
Please complete the survey by Friday 30th June 2023. Thank you.
