Faculty Focus
May 15, 2020
Happy Friday, Everyone!
I have a few bureaucratic items for you today. Nonetheless, it's information you need. Please read on.
Wednesday Staff Meeting
At Wednesday's staff meeting we will review response data from the student and parent surveys on remote learning and we will do some collective sharing and thinking about our needs for the remainder of the year. Along those lines, please give some thought as to how you are thinking about midterm "progress reports." Given that regular updates are already going to students and parents, what/if any notification is needed to ensure that any students in danger of earning No Credit have a chance to rectify the situation. I included a reminder to check SchoolBrains in my Family Focus today, and will continue to do so.
Planning for Future Remote Learning
You may have seen the posting that Gregg put out today. At both K-5 and 6-8 committees are being formed to convene over the next few weeks, review, reflect on, and make recommendations for potential remote learning refinement as we plan for the fall. Input from all of you will be sought, of course. Let me know if you have questions.
Instructional Leadership Team
The Instructional Leadership team has continued to work with the Sustainable System of Support staff from DESE throughout the closure. At the May 27 staff meeting we will give. a progress update. In the meantime, brief notes are below in the ILT to Staff Running Record if you want a quick peak at our approach.
Lastly, though I don't love the title since it's not exactly positive, I did find that this Edutopia article had some strategies worth sharing. Curbing Teacher Burnout During Pandemic
Enjoy the weekend!
Best,
Lynne
Purchasing for 2020-2021
Purchase Orders - Due to Christine by June 15th
Over the next few weeks, please finalize orders for next year. If you submitted a wish list in December when I was preparing an estimated budget, please review it to be sure your requests remain the same. You cannot go over the amount you requested, but can change items on your list. Quotes must be included, and must include shipping costs.
Please Make a Copy and use the PO Request Form (also on the Info Hub) to submit your actual request. These must be complete and submitted to Christine before June 15th.
Reimbursement for Purchases - IMPORTANT
GPS will no longer reimburse for purchases of any kind. Please make sure you plan ahead for necessary purchases with approved vendors so that a PO can be approved and issued in time for the purchase to be made. If a company is not a vendor, Christine can assist with getting them on the vendor list...as long as they comply with necessary paperwork to do that.
Stipend Positions for 2020-2021
As is the annual procedure, I am inviting faculty to submit interest in the paid stipend positions available for extra-curricular activities. Please send me a brief notification of your interest. If I have a decision to make among interested parties, I will request a conversation. For representatives to the Teacher Leadership Advisory, it is helpful if you discuss it among your colleague group.
Please see the attached list as a reminder of what is available: Stipend Positions 2020-2021
Please notify me by June 1 if you are interested in a stipend position next year.
Please note: If we continue with remote instruction or a hybrid, we will explore how we might provide opportunities like Homework Club, Extended Day, etc. as well as some of the others.
