The Index Librorum Prohibitorum is a list of books deemed innapropriate, dangerous to their beliefs and heretical. Because of those reasons the Catholic Church banned them from being read.
Why was the Index of Librorum Prohibitorum significant?
The Index of Librorum Prohibitorum was created to protect the catholic church. The Index of Librorum Prohibitorum tried to protect the catholic followers from disobeying god. It informed them of books and authors they should not read.
Time
The first Index of Prohibited Books was published in 1959. It was passed under Paul IV; this index was very strict and severe.
