NATIONAL KINDNESS WEEK!!
Random Acts of Kindness
This past week students participated in several acts of kindness around elementary
and around our school grounds.
Kindergarten talked about being kind to the environment and making it beautiful by
making seed bombs to throw in their yards and have flowers grow for the spring.
1st grade made bookmarks and hid them in various books in the library.
2nd grade painted rocks with kind and positive messages on them and hid them around campus.
3rd grade wrote kind letters to their teacher's grandma's friends at a retirement home.
4th grade made sticky note murals with kind words.
5th grade students made cards for their teachers and friends describing them in kind ways
It was a fun week!!
LITTLE FREE LIBRARY - ESTABLISHED BY OUR MAYOR ASHTAN CLANTON
Hi everyone!
Ashtan Clanton (5th grade) has been working on his mayor project for the year. He has decided that he would like to purchase a Little Free Library for Meadow. He put together a great speech explaining the benefits of literacy and how this library will help promote reading in Meadow. If you haven't heard of a Little Free Library, it is a give and take type system where you can take any book inside as long as you place a book back. Or you can put books in you don't need any more for other people to enjoy. It is a way to teach honesty, responsibility, and integrity for the members of the community and help others enjoy good books. He has committed to taking care of it while he is a Meadow Bronco and with the help of the Elementary and City Hall, we are hoping this will be a successful tool for years to come.
That being said, I am looking for some book donations in GOOD condition of all reading levels to start a library for the book barn. You can bring them to me, or I can come pick them up.
We are also looking for monetary donations to help fund the project. These book barns are not cheap. If you feel called to donate, please let me know. No pressure at all!
He and I cannot wait to share this project with the community.
He is really proud of this idea (as am I).
Maybe you can stop by and visit it one day with your family 🙂
I will keep you updated on the process. I have attached a photo of the cute book barn.
Thank you so much,
Jenna Wesley, M.S. Ed.
Puedes traérmelos o puedo ir a recogerlos.
Muchas gracias,
Jenna Wesley, MS Ed.
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! It so hard to believe that the 3rd Quarter is wrapping up in the next couple of weeks. Where has the time gone? Next thing you know the end of school and summer will be here. My husband and my youngest chick is a senior this year, and I am trying to wrap my mind around the fact that she will be flying the coop soon. I look at the sweet faces of our students knowing that in a blink of an eye they will be heading to junior high, high school, then graduating. Just like with my own, I want to remember everything about this time of the student’s lives. I want them to grow as students, but still be kids. I want them to never be afraid to come me when they face challenges that seem insurmountable. I want them to work hard and have fun while doing it. I want them to dream big and go for those dreams. The students here at Burleson Elementary aren’t just my students…they are my kids. I hope you see that too.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Hello 3rd grade families,
This week in reading, we finished up our unit over argumentative text. To end our unit, we read a paired passage about recycling. Each passage had a different claim(opinion) over whether or not people should be rewarded for recycling. After reading, students worked together to answer an extended response question; Explain your opinion on why people should or shouldn’t be rewarded for recycling. They put their response by working on different colors of paper to organize their restate, answer, cite number 1, explain number 1, cite number 2, explain number 2, and summarize. Working together to build this was only the first step to mastering argumentative writing. After, they then had to independently do it again but from the opposite side of the argument. By being able to argue from both sides, students are able to complete STAAR based extended responses by organizing their writing.
In phonics this week, we applied our background knowledge on final, stable syllables and analyzed five new final, stable syllables.
For social studies this week, we discussed and described the effects of building new homes and how it changes the landscape of communities.
Reminders:
Please have your child at school every day and on time.
If your child will not be at school, please message on class DoJo and call the office
Please make sure your child is completing daily homework and reading for at least 20 minutes every night.
Please make sure to check and sign your child’s folder every night.
Thank you for all you do,
Temple Smith
templo herrero

5TH GRADE - MRS. GAMEZ & MRS. GUZMAN
5th Grade:
We finished space and started our final unit before STAAR! STAAR is in the middle of April so this will give us just enough time to finish this Life Science Unit and review for it! They are so excited for STAAR because they really want to show what they know. I love that they find the joy in things that might seem not-so joyful!
4th Grade:
I wish they could stay on Space forever! They are doing so great! They love learning about the phases of the moon and how it appears! We will take a test on the 21st over phases of the moon!
Caitlyn Guzman
4/5th Grade Science & Social Studies

4th & 5th Math
-In 4th grade Math, we started working on our Geometry Unit. We are learning how to classify the different shapes. Fourth grade will soon begin their STAAR review.
-In 5th grade, we started reviewing for the Math STAAR test. Our Math STAAR test has always been the first weeks in May, but this year our test will be April 23rd. We need all students in class every day during review because we will not stay long reviewing certain math concepts. There are too many math concepts and I like to cover everything we have learned all year long.
-All 4th and 5th Graders need to practice multiplication math facts every night for 5 minutes. Please, please, please…the numbers and the work is getting more challenging and not knowing multiplication math facts make it seem impossible. Some students shut down or do not turn in assignments.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
Stacy Gamez.
