Career Day 2019
The Counseling Office, in conjunction with the Alumni Office, holds a Career Day for juniors each winter. Students have the opportunity to speak to Mater Dei alumni about their chosen careers and the path they took to get there. They attend two sessions in careers of their choice and then are welcome to speak to the presenters at our Career Fair during upper lunch. Utilizing the entire campus, we work to provide as many career options as possible to the junior students to explore.
Each year over 40 speakers are on campus sharing information on careers ranging from law enforcement to computer programming, real estate to nursing, and more!

The SAT and ACT are college admission exams that test what you learn in high school and what you need to succeed in college. Most colleges review scores from either the SAT or the ACT test as part of their admissions process. Please see our helpful SAT & ACT Test Prep page! You will find tips for preparing & practice, including free and low cost, and testing dates/links.
It is recommended that students take the official ACT, SAT and SAT Subject Tests (if required) during the spring of Junior Year. Students are responsible for registering for their SAT/ACT tests online and can select Mater Dei as their testing location.

Wellness
A quick wellness reminder written by @stacieswift:
"STOP! Take a minute to not be busy, distracted or thinking ahead.
- Relax your body
- Slow down your breathing. In ... and ... out.
- Settle your mind, focusing just on your breaths
- Turn your head to look over your shoulder, and then the other
- Slowly lift your arms above your head, stretch all the way out to your fingers
- Rotate your arms, release the tension in your shoulders
- Inhale. Exhale. A teeny act of self-care you can do any time and pretty much anywhere.
- Sometimes we need just a bit of prompting to stop and slow down, just for a moment or two."
If you ever need to talk to someone about personal concerns (family, friends, how you're feeling, dealing with stress, etc.) please let your school counselor know. We are here to support you. We also have two Wellness Counselors available every school day.
Service Hours/Reflection
As a reminder, to graduate from Mater Dei students must complete 10 hours of volunteer service per semester, and at least half of all hours must be "direct service." The deadline in spring for service hours is March 18, 2019.
Visit the Christian Service Program web page for more information. Be sure to submit your hours through our new app, MobileServe. Please check that they have been verified.
If you have any questions, talk to Mrs. Hopkins, our Director of Christian Service, in Campus Ministry.
