We closed a busy week with a fantastic Black History Month community program on Thursday evening and a huge victory on the basketball court on senior night for the boys basketball team. We now enter an important time of year as we schedule classes for next year and begin the final 2 weeks of the 3rd grading period. Students should be checking their student emails regularly for updates about scheduling, graduation, and other important spring events.
Let's have a great week of learning.

College Credit Plus Update: Important Deadlines Included in this message
Students taking College Credit Plus courses next year MUST meet application deadlines and qualify to take the classes. Please contact your school counselor with questions about taking College Credit Plus.
1) A new declaration of intent is required annually. It is available online at this link. The deadline for this form is April 3rd.
2) Students will need to apply to the primary college partner, MTC, by April 3rd. The application is available at this link.
3) Some of our courses (listed below) require a placement test score. This process was different during the pandemic, but is returning to the Accuplacer for next year's courses. Students taking College Credit Plus need to monitor their PLSD email accounts for important updates and communication from Mr. Sabetta (PLSD CCP Coordinator).
4) The Accuplacer requires students to have an account with the college.
5) CCP Information night is February 8th at 6:30pm in the PAC at North.
Courses with placement requirements:
Comp 1 - Accuplacer Writing
Comp 2 - Credit in Comp 1
Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics - Accuplacer Math
All others require a 3.0 unweighted GPA for "placement".
OST Tutoring Available
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In April PHSC will be administering the Ohio EOC exams for the following content areas: Algebra, Biology, ELA, American History, and/or American Government
PHCS is excited to offer help students to prepare for these tests, This opportunity is currently for students taking the EOCs for the first time. Students can attend 2 sessions each day, the dates of which are listed below. Session 1 is from 3:15p-4:00p and session 2 is from 4:00p-4:45p.
While attendance for tutoring is not mandatory, it is an opportunity for your student to receive small group instruction from teachers, which will focus on preparing them for these end-of-course tests. Students should report to the 100’s Collaborative Learning space after school and will be sent to their tutoring classrooms by 3:15 pm.
We are also excited to offer bus transportation this spring. Be aware, though, that transportation is “portal to portal”. Students will be transported to the school nearest to their home and will need to make arrangements to get home from there, either by walking or by being picked up there. The schools that will be dropoff locations are; Sycamore Creek Elementary School, Heritage Elementary School, and Tussing Elementary School.
We know that staying after school for this will take time away from other schoolwork and we value your student’s time, but we believe that this opportunity will help propel your student to graduation. Students do not need to attend all of the sessions, but the more they attend, the better prepared they will be for the tests. As an incentive, anyone that attends 50% or more sessions will have the opportunity to earn a pass to be first in line at lunch or a Tiger Den pass.
February Dates March Dates April Dates 2/14, 2/16, 2/21, 2/23, 2/28 3/2, 3/7, 3/14, 3/16, 3/28, 3/30 4/4, 4/6, 4/11, 4/13
Students do not need to attend all sessions, but we hope you attend as many sessions as your student's schedule allows. Please fill out this form to indicate interest in tutoring and whether transportation is needed:
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email at zachary_tullis@plsd.us
Sincerely,
Zack Tullis, PHSC OST Remediation Coordinator

Financial Aid/Scholarships
October 1st was the opening day for Seniors to begin submitting their FAFSA. The Free Application For Student Aid, is the most important thing Seniors can do to get money for college. Seniors can also start searching for and completing scholarship applications. Here is a list of the scholarships our high schools have put together to help students locate scholarship opportunities . Applying is the only way to receive free money for college! The Senior Hub has a scholarship presentation with other scholarship resources. Now is the time to start this process!
Summer Experiences!
Summer is a great time for students to discover career interests, college opportunities or learn new skills. Each spring we create a list of summer opportunities for our students and encourage them to participate! Whether it be a summer camp, part time job, internship, job shadowing, or summer classes or college campus opportunities, it will be a great learning experience and will look pretty good on a college or job resume as well! We will keep adding to this list as we become aware of more summer events.
