Make this a great week!
Have a great week,

Things to know...
- Our Pineapple Board is up and running! Don't be shy, we are all good at something and a lot of you are good at a lot of things. Don't hide your light under a bushel, share it with your colleagues! If you are not sure what to do, Ask an IC! Thanks Ms. Roberts for launching our awesome board!
- By parent request...Thursday, 5:30 - 6:30: Parent Technology Training! I am in need of a few volunteers to help with supporting any parent that shows up. We will be showing them how to navigate the school website, sign up for Remind, and follow us on Facebook. I would also like to share possible academic sites for them to use at home. 5th grade, if I can get the doc you used for Literacy Night, that would be awesome. If a few volunteers spoke Spanish, that would be helpful :) I am also hoping that we can offer childcare so parents are able to focus without interruption. If you are willing to watch the kids or know of a group that might come and help, that would be great.
- Returning PfISD teachers. If you think back way... back... when.....students took survey's about school and teachers. The data is in and we are almost ready to share it with you. Remember that this is how your students felt about their experience with you. While this was a first attempt to see how the process worked, I can tell you that we will be doing it again this year. If you want to invite me during your conference time, I can try to make my way around to each returning teacher. Otherwise, I can met with you after school. It really shouldn't take too log, but I think you will find it very interesting. In anticipation of our next survey, remember to try to find opportunities to give your students voice in some decisions or to at lest provide you with feedback. I know it is scary, but what you hear might really help guide you to strengthen your relationship with your students :)
- Awesome job with getting student and staff survey's completed! You efforts kept us at the top of the chart all week! Go Dessau!
Powerwalks
Thank you for being so attentive during our PLCs this past week. I know it was a review of already released info, but I thought being able to hear it and ask some questions might be helpful. I was also excited to see our list of items for our data binder grow throughout the day. We will roll out a campus wide expectation list in December. Remember, we will be reviewing your reading and math data on Wednesday after school. We will start in the library and then break off into teams. We will be expecting each team to use our new data collection sheets. Pre-work can be dome prior to coming if that helps!
I hope you are able to start reading your Fundamental 5 books! Remember these are best practices that we are expecting all day every day :) You can do it! I believe in you and our students deserve the best :)
Campus Mission & Vision
As we continue to move forward with creating a culture of excellence, one of the most important things we need to do is to define what we believe in and where we want to go. Your team leads have started some work on this and we are ready to start sharing with everyone. Here is a little info on school mission and vision statements. Soon your team lead will share a couple of options to start conversations about what we want to craft together. Once the discussions have started, we will come together as a staff to try and make some final decisions. Once we have that, we will share it with our students and families to get their input. This will take us one step closer to our goals.
Mission statements "give educators stronger motivation and provide parents with a clearer picture of what the school values. Mission statements are the "how-to" statements or action plans that help schools achieve their vision. They prompt change and growth. The mission statement should be longer than the vision statement because it is a specific plan for driving the school to fulfill its potential.
Your school must have a vision that all staff members recognize as a common direction of growth, something that inspires them to be better. An effective vision also announces to parents and students where you are heading and why they should take the trip with you.
