BCMS Friday Rewind
Week of September 5, 2017
BEST FIRST WEEK EVER!
Thanks for a great first week! Two days into the school year, I was telling someone this was the smoothest start in my nine years at BCMS. From open house, to students finding the right classroom, things went amazingly well. Thank you so much for all you do to make this possible! Student and staff pictures are complete. We will have our picture retake day on Friday, October 6th if you missed it. We finished up all grade level meetings today with our 7th graders. In these meetings, we highlighted the new cell phone policy, Bison Binders, dress code, the importance of grades, lunchroom and hallway expectations, and what students can do to contribute to our school and be a leader in terms of the words on our wall in the Mall....Respect, Leadership, Integrity, Character, Courage, Service, Compassion. The kids were very respectful and did a great job.

The State of the Bison Binder
We are making great progress with the school-wide use of the Bison Binder! Below is a picture of all sixth grade students holding up their Bison Binders proudly. After the grade level meeting, we made sure that every 6th and 7th grade student now has a zip up binder. I have had many very productive meetings with 8th graders to get their feedback on the zip-up Bison Binders this year. After hearing from them, we have decided that if an 8th grade student has high grades and the inside of the binder looks like all others, we will allow them to choose not to have a zip up and go with their system from last year. I am so proud of all of our staff and students through this process. Special thanks to Courtney for all of her work on the Bison Binder this summer and helping us with this AVID initiative.
The Power of Positive Relationships
Warning....Broken record time. If you know me at all, you know that the concept of relationships in the classroom between students and teachers is priority number one for me with our school. There is no bigger way to positively affect all students here at BCMS. Please keep this in mind these first few weeks as you are woking on establishing norms and routines in your classroom, and getting to know your students on a personal level.
Please place the new yellow cards by your phone. It shows the counselor grade levels and the principal alphabet ranges.
