Reviews and Updates
Posting Class Links in Schoology
- Not in the Schoology Calendar
- No need to email parents the links separately
This email script should be viewed by all parents/students that would be in your class or on your team, it should be in your welcoming email or posted in Schoology for students/parents to see....
(we sent it to all staff/families earlier this week)
Hello students and parents/guardians:
We are looking forward to starting our virtual classes, and want to be sure you all understand how to access your courses via Zoom. First, you must be logged into Schoology. Once you are logged in, choose "Updates" on the left and there you will see an announcement posted for your course with the Zoom link and password. The course should be labeled according to the period and/or time for that class. Please refer to your student schedule so you know what time to log in.
There will be challenges to online learning, but we will certainly do our best to help you troubleshoot any problems that arise. We thank you for your patience as we navigate through this virtual world.
You can expect to see your first Zoom session links by August 28th to prepare for our first day on Monday, August 31st.
This is the process we all should be using to post our Zoom classroom links:
- This should have been completed/posted no later than August 28
- Updates and in announcements (with Zoom link and password)
- The course should be labeled (period/time/class)
Zoom Etiquette (Please review this on Day 1 with Students and post in Schoology Folder)
- this was already sent to parents and students -
-Virtual Classroom Etiquette
Families are asked to review the following expectations with their child regarding the virtual classroom.
Students should follow the virtual classroom etiquette and all school rules still apply in the virtual platform:
When entering a virtual space, please mute your microphone and only turn it on when you need/asked to speak.
Please be sure that students are appropriately dressed and follow the dress code in the PGMS Handbook. We are using virtual spaces to recreate a classroom environment as best as possible. Virtual sessions could be recorded.
We recommend that all students turn their camera on, so that the teacher can see your face. But this is not required, if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
When signing in you are required to use your given first and last name - nicknames, emojis, etc....are not appropriate.
The chat feature will be used at the teacher's discretion.
Cell-phones should not pose a distraction during class room lessons.
Students should maintain academic integrity in all classes.
Students that are disruptive in the virtual classroom, could be asked to leave and the teacher will then be in contact with the parents about the circumstances and situation.
All school rules apply in the virtual setting and the procedures the teacher sets forth are required to be followed by each student.
Office Hours - The Procedures you will have with your Classroom / Team
- All Day Wednesday
- Period 9 Daily (2:17 - 3:15)
**Please let your students and parents know how you prefer they connect with you, during your office hours....email, phone, open Zoom room etc...(this should be done before the end of the 1st week of school) -----> Your team office hour procedures should be consistent.
Attendance Period Deadlines
- On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the deadline to enter attendance is 10:00 am. The attendance calls from the system will go out at 10:15am.

Wednesday Attendance
On Wednesdays, students that complete work assignments will mark them as present. If they do not complete work assignments this could deem them as:
AU - Absent Unexcused (Absent unexcused code)
Teachers should take attendance of each student on their roster, as they turn in assignments. Attendance for Wednesday, should be submitted the following day (Thursday)
*** NOTE: ****
All assignments should be turned in no later than 2:45pm on Wednesdays, to be counted as present (this deadline we will use for PGMS and should used by all staff) - we will discuss it at our 1st / 2nd faculty meeting and see if it needs to be adapted or changed

MAP #1 Testing (Yes....we will be giving the MAP Test(s) Virtually)
September 17 - MATH Test
*Virtual Testing Block - 8:30am - 10:15am
The preliminary plan is to use 8:30am -10:15am as our testing block in homeroom and the rest of the day we will be posting assignments asynchronously.
---> All attendance will be taken during the MAP testing blocks. Teachers will need to remain present and responsive to the students via the zoom classroom during the testing block.
*** We will discuss this at our September 9th Faculty meeting to plan as a staff ***
2020 - 2021 PGMS Staffing Matrix
Overall Expectations for Virtual Learning Environment (Reviewed at 8/25 Faculty Meeting)
- Conduct Live Lessons (MTRF) and be present/available the entire period for students.
- Communication and responsiveness to parents/students daily and during all advertised office hours.
- Valid attendance of students on Synchronous and Asynchronous days.
- Keep track of students that do not attend live Zoom sessions and non-engaged students
- *Implementation of consistent procedures that are advertised to the staff (This is not an option, these will need to be done by each teacher as it relates to structures, not the delivery of instruction)
