Welcome Back!

Big picture

The New Normal

We are so pleased that you have chosen Union Adult Learning Center to continue your education. While this year has been so different in so many ways, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to school, virtually! From now until October, we will be monitoring the situation and as soon as it is safe to return to class in person, we will let you know what options are available. For now our enrollment and classes will take place online for both ESL & HSE.

Enrollment Continues Through August 28th

There is still time to enroll in our classes! Visit our website and the enrollment page to begin enrollment. Click the link below to get started. After you complete the first step, you will be contacted by a staff member who will work with you through the rest of the process. There are 4 steps in the enrollment process:

1) Pre Enrollment Survey

2) Remote Pretesting (TABE 11/12 & TABE CLAS-E)

3) Enrollment Paperwork

4) Teacher/Class assignment

Virtual Classes

We will begin our first quarter classes the week of September 8th. All classes will be virtual only at this time. Your teachers will give you information on Zoom Class Meetings as well as your log in to our online learning software.

We will reevaluate and decide in October if we will finish the semester virtually or if we can safely offer in person class options for our students.

High School Equivalency

What is HSE? HSE stands for High School Equivalency. Early on there was only one test, the GED test. Classes meant to prepare students for the GED test were called GED classes. Now we have multiple test vendors and tests.

Our free High School Equivalency classes prepare the student to pass the subject area tests and earn their High School Equivalency diploma from the State Department of Education. Test subjects include Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Test options include GED and HiSET®.

She returned to education as a school counselor and Adult Ed instructor, and now the HSE Guidance Specialist. She loves dancing and sports. English as a Second Language

What is ESL? ESL stands for English as a Second Language. Our free classes help adults in our community who are not native English speakers, learn English together. Our classes help students improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. We offer four levels of classes, so you do not need to know English to take our classes.
