Library News from Ms. Pace
Kinder students are now taking their library books home each week. They will check out one book each week and return it on their library day. Please read this book with them at home. Have them point out sight words they are learning in class. Ask them about the characters and how the characters are reacting to the story. Please contact your child’s teacher if you don’t know their library day.
Name that Book is gearing up at Hamilton. All students 3-5th grade that are interested will attend our lunch time meeting on Oct. 20th. At this meeting students should bring their papers to show 5 books from the list they have already read. We will also make sure all students who are interested in the program are on a team. Students can create their own team with anyone at Hamilton in their same grade.
Birthday Book Bunch: We will be celebrating all students who have birthdays in the 1st 9 weeks of school and are part of the birthday bunch. We will have our birthday party on Oct 28 8:30-9:00 in the library. Each student will get a drink and 2 glazed donuts. We will play some games and select our birthday books.
Author Visits: Steve Swinburne was here this week for 2-4 grade discussing his nonfiction books. Students had a wonderful time listening to all the places has visited and all the animals he has studied.
Blue Willow is bringing Lisa McMann to Hamilton on 11/14 for 4-5th graders. This is the link for Lisa McMann books: https://www.bluewillowbookshop.com/lisa-mcmann

Hamilton Pumpkin Patch: Students can bring in a plastic pumpkin decorated as a book character to add to our pumpkin patch. One pumpkin per family. Pumpkins will be judged on Oct. 28. The top three pumpkins will receive a pizza dinner for the family. This is an optional activity.
Leaping Lizards is a program for PreK-2nd grade. Students received a sheet explaining the program this week. Students are asked to read 3 books from this year’s list and 5 books from previous years. They will fill in a box for each book and turn in their papers for a prize from the library. All papers are due Dec 16, 2022. This is an optional activity.
