A Note from the AP
The excitement is amping up at Tornillo ISD. The high school basketball season is going strong while baseball, softball, and tennis are just getting under way. If you were unable to attend Friday's high school varsity boy’s basketball game, you missed quite a game. They are currently 23-1 and are ranked in the Top 25 of Class 3A. Please make plans to attend the next game.
On another note, our softball and baseball teams played their first game this past weekend. The 7th grade girls came up short by two runs but the eighth-grade girls team won against Anthony Middle School 16-10. The boys played a combined 7th & 8th grade team and they also beat Anthony 13-1. I know this is going to be a great season.
This Saturday, January 28th we will have Saturday classes for those students who need additional support. We will contact you this week by phone and send letters home. Please help us help our students by making sure they are in attendance.
Eighth grade students tested for their PSAT this past week and on January 26th will take the MStar to gauge their preparedness for the Algebra I EOC. This data will help us plan instruction and provide the support needed to to ensure students are mastering all Algebra skills.
🏅UIL Results 2023🏅

Congratulations to everyone who participated! Thank you to the coaches and a special thanks to Ms. James who is our UIL Coordinator. You all did a fantastic job representing TJHS.

🥇Farewell Coach Garcia🏃
On January 19th, Tornillo ISD bid a sad farewell to Coach Jesus Garcia. After 16 years, 108 state qualifiers, 1 state gold medalist, 16 state silver medalists, 9 state bronze medalist and many other accomplishments Coach Garcia decided to make a change and move on. We wish you all the best and thank you for your passion, dedication, and the commitment you showed to our district, community and most importantly - our students.
🏆Attendance Matters🏆
Thank you for helping us with attendance this first semester. We need all students here, all day and every day to ensure they get optimal instruction. We have an average of 96.05% and need to raise it to 98% or above. Great job Coyote Community!!
