Nothing is coming home today from the office
Enjoy the online version of our student-created school newspaper. Thank you to Mr. Fillette, Mrs. Jacobs & Mr. Heine for supporting this.
Cooperation in Action!
Thank you for your already overwhelming support of our giving project. Classes are quickly amassing food supplies, and we're getting ready for our annual Turkey Toss to help raise money for the much appreciated center-piece of the upcoming holiday meals.
Social Media Admonishment
Mrs. Sleicher and I are beginning to hear conversation among students regarding inappropriate use of social media. These include (but are not limited to as these new sites and apps are constantly becoming available): instagram, kik, vine, and snapchat. Some of these have no parental controls even available, making our challenge as parents to help our children responsibly use freely accessible technology even more difficult.
Whether you're familiar with these or not, I would encourage you to "google" them. I was pretty surprised (truth be told: horrified) by the explicit content that often floats between users - and it appears that some of our elementary aged students are using these sites already.
Please be vigilant about talking with your children about social media use - and setting clear expectations and limitations about its use.
To My 13-Year-Old, An iPhone Contract From Your Mom, With Love
If you haven't read this article before, it's a great read! It provides some wonderful language (and rules) surrounding child-access to smart technology. With as fast as this all changes, I take as many tips as I can just to try to stay ahead, even if only a little.
