The 4-H Update
August 20, 2021
Did You Have An Item Selected for State Fair?
You have a 4-H project that was selected for the Nebraska State Fair. The 4-H Staff will transport all State Fair items to Grand Island with the exception of very large exhibits. Send exhibits at your own risk. We will provide the State Fair entry tags for you. Be sure your entry is labeled with your name, county and all required supporting information. Read the corresponding section of the State Fair Book to determine what needs to accompany your entry. In most departments, exhibitors are limited to 1 item per class. If more than one has been selected, YOU must decide which exhibit you want to go to the State Fair. All exhibits must be well packaged and labeled.
The following drop off schedule has been set:
DOUGLAS OFFICE: 8015 West Center Road, Omaha, NE 68124
Monday, August 23 from 8 am – 4:30 pm and Tuesday, August 24 from 8 am – 6:30 pm
After State Fair, entries may be picked up at the Extension office.
Wednesday, September 8 through Friday, September 10 from 8 am – 4:30 pm.
Please pick up items NO LATER than Sept. 10 as we do not have room to store them.

We hope you make the trip out to Grand Island to check out this year's Nebraska State Fair! Below are some links to make your trip easier.
Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Clover Kid Club
Parents and children ages 5-7 are invited to be a part of the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Clover Kid Program. The primary goal of Clover Kids is to promote the child's stages of development - intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Participants can enroll in the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H program and participate in all the program’s contests, events, and county fair.
2021 dates and programs include:
- September 14 – Cooking and measuring
- October 5 – Bug out – Entomology presentation and activity
- November 9 – Fall Nature activity
- December 11 (10 am -12 pm) - New Year’s Celebration at Noon!
The programs (unless otherwise noted) will be held from 6-7 pm at the Douglas-Sarpy Extension office. All events are subject to change if the COVID status of our community changes.
The program is designed to provide 5- to 7-year-olds a variety of educational and recreational experiences in a non-competitive environment. Clover Kids provide an excellent opportunity for youth to achieve his/her highest potential because early life experiences affect future development.
Nebraska Extension Douglas-Sarpy Counties is located at 8015 West Center Road, Omaha. There is no cost to attend, but participants are asked to preregister with Rachel at rwright4@unl.edu.

Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Families –
With bittersweet feelings, it is time for me to say “See ya later!” I have accepted a position as the 4-H Educator in Washington County and will begin my role there on Monday, August 23. I have enjoyed my time getting to know, work with and learn from you the past three years. Thank you for always being a friendly face and a helping hand. The Nebraska 4-H world is small, so maybe we’ll run into each other at a future event. Good luck with State Fair and your future 4-H endeavors!
