Candor Health Education
Every year, students across all District 15 junior high schools review information about sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), pregnancy, and healthy relationships as part of their annual health curriculum and health standards. The P.E. staff is partnering with Candor Health Education (formerly the Robert Crown Center for Health Education) to help teach this topic to our students. This organization has partners with all other junior high schools in District 15. Their program is entitled Teen Sexual Health and discusses definitions, information, statistics, and facts about sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy.
For your information, all classes that teach aspects of sex education emphasize that abstinence from sexual activity is the expected norm. Family life courses are designed to promote a wholesome and comprehensive understanding of the emotional, psychological, physiological, hygienic, and social responsibility aspects of family life, and for grades 7 through 8, the prevention of AIDS and other diseases.
According to State law, no student is required to take or participate in these classes or courses. There is no penalty for refusing to take or participate in such a course or program. If you do not want your child to participate in this course, please reach out to your child’s P.E. teacher with your child’s name and a message stating you do not want your child to participate in the Teen Sexual Health Program. They will be given an alternative assignment and placement during this class period. The 7th grade presentation will be January 25th and 26th.
If you should have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s P.E. teacher.

We need your help during drop-off and pick-up
As we wait for the new 3 tier bussing, and winter temperatures and weather continue to remind us why we love to live in Chicagoland during the summer months, more cars will be coming to school to drop-off and pick-up students. This is causing more than usual congestion. In order to ensure the safety of our students and families, and working towards making drop-off and pick-up more efficient, please read the following:
- During school hours, the speed limit around the school drops to 20mph.
- Please do not use cellphones or other hand held devices.
- Remind your student that you love them and wish them well, but please keep the line moving.
- Students should ALWAYS exit a car on the passenger side.
- Students need to be extremely alert of traffic as they cross the street and follow crossing guidelines.
- Please be patient as cars are stopping frequently to drop off students.
- Only enter the parking lot off Babcock Dr if you need to park, otherwise use all designated drop-off locations.
Please think of the safety of all of our students and families during these times of the day.
