Cloverdale Elementary News
Week Of December 7,2020
Principal's Den
I hope you are all well and staying safe. I encourage you to continue to practice social distancing and wearing a mask to protect yourselves and others whenever you are out and about. I am so glad we were able to have our first trimester awards assemblies. They were so much fun and they made me very happy. It was a pleasure recognizing you all for all of your hard work and accomplishments.
We are getting ready for our Winter Break in a couple of weeks. It is important that you work extra hard to improve your grades and learn as much as we can before the break.
We are starting our STAR student of the week once again and we are recognizing two winners! They are Rosa Topete from Ms. Valdivia's class and Javier Lopez from Ms. Quiroz's classroom. We will have a certificate for you this week. There were many other students that were nominated by their teachers and I will be sharing their names during our morning announcements. Congratulations to you all.
While we are congratulating people, I want to give a shoutout to Ms. Sabatini. She has been recognized as an outstanding teacher by the LA Clippers organization for the month of November. They have posted her picture on their website as well. Congratulations to Ms. Sabatini for this well-deserved recognition.
In this weeks SEL lessons with Ms. Dahlman you will be learning about being assertive and being able to talk through difficulties and problem solve. I hope to see many of you once again during grab n go lunch.
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
We also know that a FAIL is only a First Attempt in Learning and that we learn best from our mistakes. When someone makes a mistake we say "It's Cool!"
Sincerely,
Genaro GarcĂa
