Welcome to a new school year – 2019/2020!
Where has the summer gone? I know many of you have been enjoying time with friends and family, as well as pursuing professional development and planning for the new school year. It’s been a busy summer around our district with many facilities improvements taking place- thank you Measure B! In the cycle of continuous improvement, each school year brings a sense of renewal to enhance our current practices as we move toward reaching our goal of being the highest performing district in our Region through our High Fives.
As we move into year two of our theme: “Explore. Learn. Thrive.” we look forward to learning with you as we kick off the new school year at our districtwide Welcome Back Day on Monday, August 19th at Quincy Jr/Sr. High School. We will begin at 7:45 with sign in and a continental breakfast provided by PCTA and PUSD.
This day is for all certificated staff, classified staff who provide direct services for students in the classroom and site office staff. For questions regarding attendance, please contact your supervisor. The schedule for the day and related details are attached for your review.
In place of individual mileage reimbursements, transportation will be provided by buses and leaving from the following locations at the following times:

From Kevin Trutna, FRC President
The Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE) has released its report Where California High School Students Attend College. Included in the report is information about college-going rates that can be analyzed by county. When compared to adjacent counties, Plumas County has a generally higher college-going rate than adjacent counties. This speaks volumes for the FRC Financial Aid Department with their college awareness campaigns, financial aid information nights, and the “I Can Afford College” campaign.
Outreach TRiO Programs such as Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search also set a high bar and help Plumas students attend the college of their choice.
According to the report, Plumas County had 109 high school completers in 2017-18. A total of 73 students enrolled in college (67% college-going rate) with 43 of the 73 students attending community college (59%).
