Trunk-or-Treat

Our biggest after-school event is back and we are excited to host a free and safe trick-or-treating event after school. The event will be scheduled for Wednesday, October 27th (Raindate - October 28th) from 5:00-5:45 pm in the Washington school yard. Families and staff can decorate the trunks of their cars and we can give out candy. This is our school's trick-or-treating event for the school year. We only allow costumes at this event and not during school. Although the event is free, we need the following help.

  • We need volunteers willing to decorate car trunks for the event and hand out candy. You would need to be in the parking lot from 4:30-6:00 pm for safety reasons.
  • We need families to donate bags of candy. Two years ago we went through 200 lbs of candy. Please start sending candy in now.
  • Check out the pictures from our event two years ago for ideas.
  • We will not open the event until 5:00 pm. Sunset is at 5:43 pm that night.

If you are interested in setting up a trunk, please email me at jmccrevan@lowell.k12.ma.us

School Site Council

I have three willing members, but we need more. Please consider participating on the School Site Council. We need 2 or 3 additional school site council members for our school. We meet about 6-8 times per year on Zoom. Our first meeting is scheduled for October 18th. Please consider helping. Please email me directly so I can answer questions. jmccrevan@lowell.k12.ma.us

Outside Lunch

We are still trying to eat lunch outside. Please make sure the kids are dressed for the weather each day. So far, we have only eaten inside 4 times this school year.

COVID INDOOR LUNCH ADJUSTMENTS

We have made some adjustments to our indoor lunch schedule to try to keep everyone safe. We will have only one grade level in the cafeteria at a time. This will avoid us having to identify close contacts due to eating lunch. Through the month of October, we will still try to eat outdoors as much as possible. To this date, we have only been inside for lunch three times this school year.

If weather forces us to eat indoors (Until October 29th):

  • Grades 1, 3, and kindergarten will eat in the cafeteria. Students in CSA with inclusion time for lunch will also eat in the cafeteria.
  • All other classes will eat in their classrooms.

At the end of October, we will switch this up to give other grades an opportunity to eat in the cafeteria.

COVID-19 Testing - You MUST SIGN UP EACH YEAR

We had 2 positive cases again in our fifth week of in-school pool testing. Pool testing is every week and families can sign children up using g this link. Pool Testing Sign-Up

There is a significant amount of prep work to make sure the testing is accurate. Pools are made on Fridays for the following week. If you sign-up after Monday, your child may be delayed a week when starting testing. Our second pool will have 85 samples.
