A Message from Ms. Butler
Dear Woodlands Classical Academy Families,
We are heading into one of my favorite time weeks on campus. Red Ribbon Week is a great time for us to remind scholars of the dangers of drugs, but also have fun doing it. We have a fun-filled week this week. Please see the UPCOMING EVENTS section of the newsletter for all of the details.
Disinfectant Wipes Donations
We are asking for donations for disinfecting wipes. This is a HOT item right now and we are very low on disinfectant wipes. If you come across any disinfecting wipes while your are out shopping, we would love for you to donate a container of wipes to the school. This is something that is on our school supply list; however, we understand that their has been a shortage due to the pandemic. Any help securing these supplies would be greatly appreciated.
Mask and Water Bottles (In-Person Scholars)
Please remember to put an extra mask in your backpack. Mask becomes dirty, soiled, or even break throughout the day. Due to the limited number of disposable masks available, It is helpful when scholars have their own masks when something happens to their mask.
Due to COVID-19, our water fountains are unusable. We are asking that students bring their own water bottles to campus. Although we are providing mini-water bottles for our scholars, it is helpful when students come prepared with their own supplies.
Fall Fundraiser Cornucopia Popcorn

Attention: Increased traffic in the parking lot the morning of October 30
On October 30, Powell Elementary will host its storybook parade. Our parking lot will be filled with cars and people (big and small) during morning drop off. Please take extra precautions when arriving on campus to drop off your scholar. We want everyone to be safe.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines
Face Covering Guidance--Substantial Level
Based on county COVID-19 activity levels, our campus will adopt the protective measures found under "Substantial Activity" in our ResponsiveEd COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines this week (10/19-10/23): responsiveed.com/covid-19.
Among other practices, this means that students in Grades PK-12 will wear face coverings when it is not feasible to maintain a distance of at least six (6) feet from other individuals, including in classrooms. Thank you for your partnership in the safety of the students and staff on our campus.

Virtual School Tour
We have been utilizing SDM for two weeks now. We have had some hick-ups and some successes. Please utilize SDM for the following reasons:
- Pick up your child from school
- Report student absences and late arrivals
- Schedule early departures from school
- Make transportation changes as late as 3:00 PM on the current day … and so much more!
To really understand how to utilize the SDM APP, please watch the videos built into the app. Please make sure you watch them ensure you are utilizing the app properly. If you are still having issues or need your username and password, please contact the front office.
This system has allowed us to track and monitor our students. Each day we receive a detailed report of who picked up your child and when they were dismissed from campus. This gives me peace of mind to know that we are tracking your child daily. I know it has been a little rough but we are learning together. Thank you for your continued patience as we implement this new system.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Understanding the Habit
Begin With the End In Mind means to think about how you would like something to turn out before getting started.
Someone who thinks with the end in mind says, "I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference; I am an important part of my classroom. I can make a difference and contribute to the vision and goals of my school and in my classroom. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
Begin With the End in Mind: I have a Plan
- I set goals for myself
- I have a plan for how I will accomplish my goals.
- I think about what I want to be when I grow up and how I will get there.
