Parking
Parking is very limited, especially on event days. Walking or carpooling, if you are able, is highly recommended and can make a big difference to overall congestion. When parking, please be considerate of our neighbors and do not block driveways.
All visitors are required to sign-in. For events like classroom parties, we employ clipboard sign-in to speed up the process. Upon arrival, look for these sign-in clipboards. Our front office staff will be available to assist in this process.
Foreign Language Questionnaire for Parents
As a part of Forest Hills' ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive school environment, we would like to begin utilizing the incredible language skills of our community. If you speak, write, or read a language other than English and would like to use these skills to support Forest Hills, please take this survey.
Foreign Language Questionnaire
Each individual who speaks a foreign language should fill out this questionnaire separately. This form is setup to accept up to three foreign languages per individual. If you know more than three foreign languages, please fill the form out again!
Counselor's Corner: We Are All Wonders
This month our theme was Celebrating Differences & Diversity. Each class dove into the topic with some self reflective activities & wonderful class discussions around what makes us similar and what makes us different from each other. We learned that each one of us is unique in our own way and that no one trait defines us. It is important to respect the differences in others, for it are those differences that make us who we are!
One of the many traits we discussed was differences in ability to carry out everyday life activities. On Tuesday, each 4th grade classroom was involved in the experiential learning event, Welcome to My World. Welcome to My World is a School Board approved program developed by the Special Services Parent Advisory Committee as an opportunity for students to experience what life might be like for an individual with a disability. Students rotate between four stations: Orthopedic Impairment, Dyslexia, Speech Impediment and Sensory Processing Disorder. At the end of the session, each class reflected on their personal reactions to the experience, their thoughts about what it is like for students with a disability, and a plan for how to have empathy and to be a supportive community member to a peer who may be experiencing this disability.
In summary, the message this month was to choose kind always, that it is ok to feel uncomfortable by a difference, but it is not ok to act unkindly because of it. We are all different, we’re all wonders and we have Empathy!
