Rodeo and Parent Student Teacher Conferences

It was great to see everyone at the Rodeo performance, a culmination of many months of work with the CORE teachers and the Westward Movement. I was so proud of all the performers. Speaking of being proud, I was amazed by the wonderful job every student did with preparing their Portfolio Pockets and presenting their work during the April Parent~Student~Teacher Conferences.

Now we are off working hard towards meeting our goals for the end of the school year. Throughout the next 34 days students will be meeting with me to finish up their reading strategy work, writing projects~including our dinosaur presentation...see details below, and Monster narratives with monster face pillows, and 6 more weeks of word study including prefixes, suffixes, antonyms, synonyms, and homonyms! Mrs. Langelier is so impressed with the work the students have already completed in math this year. 1st graders will be continuing to rock it with their current module work, and 2nd graders will be moving on to multiplication soon. She will be saving Geometry for the last topic, taking place in June. She has an exciting hands on creative Geometry Extravaganza planned. I hope you had the chance to read the latest WES Newsletter which highlighted Multi 1-2 Math, Sunsets of the West, and Peaceful People!

In all content areas students will be completing year end assessments also.

Volunteering

The Volunteer calendars have just not been produced. Life is flying by at a crazy speed!!! Good things are being accomplished, just not the volunteer calendars! We love your help and seeing you in our classroom. Please send me an email if you would like to volunteer during the any of the following times. If we are not in need of a volunteer due to assessments, or practice for our presentation, I will let you know and we will figure something out.

Volunteer Times:

8:55-9:45 Daily Daily 5 CAFE Literacy Workshop (FYI STEM with Mr. I happens on Day 6, but we would love your help during STEM too!) FYI Grammy Chabot is in on Friday mornings. Ms. T is in on Thursday mornings. Nana and Mimi are in on Monday and Tuesday mornings respectively. But we can always use help with word collectors, editing, and reading tickets, so the more the merrier!

1:40-2:50 every Wednesday afternoon for STWEAM in our hallway. Wear clothes which can get messy, as we are paper macheing for a few more weeks. FYI Sagan and Mr. Meggs help out on Wednesdays, but again, the more the merrier!

Peaceful People!

The students have been positive and peaceful in their actions, words, and attitudes. Deb Howard has been busy putting up the earned peaceful pom poms. Many thanks to Kelsey Lewia for creating our bulletin board display.
