Beck's Buzz
July 2021
A Note From Mrs. Meisten
I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer as some of the COVID restrictions have begun to lift. Here at Beck, we are busy preparing for the upcoming school year and are optimistic that school may look and feel a little more normal for the 2021-2022 year.
We are excited to announce the return of our KNIGHT SHIFT program for rising 6th grade students and parents on August 11 from 9-11:30! This half day event is a great way for rising 6th graders to learn all about Beck and meet new classmates before the first day of school.
This year we will also be offering a NEW TO BECK ORIENTATION for our rising 7th and 8th grade students on August 11 from 1:30-3:00. We know that we have large numbers of students returning from Virtual and new to our building and we would like to ensure a smooth transition. While this program is open to all of our rising 7th and 8th grade students, it is not a drop in event.
If you are a returning student, you may attend our Drop-in Event on August 11 from 5-6. During this time, you can walk your schedule, purchase apparel, join PTSA, and speak with transportation.
We look forward to meeting all of our students and parents!
Class Schedules
We know that everyone is anxious to prepare for the upcoming school year. Supply lists are posted on our website and can also be found in the newsletter.
Class schedules will be mailed home the week prior to the start of the year. If your home address has changed please be sure to come by the main office to update that. Rising 7th grade students must have their TDAP on file in order to receive a schedule and attend school.
URGENT - Rising 7th Graders Need Tdap Vaccine
State law requires that all students have a Tdap vaccination to begin school their seventh grade year. Parents should contact their health care provider or the county Health Department, 282-4100, to make arrangements as soon as possible and provide a copy of the South Carolina Certificate of Immunization to the school.
Students entering the seventh grade, who have not received the Tdap vaccine will not be allowed to attend school until they have received the vaccine and provided proof to the school.
Documentation can be mailed or faxed to the school or you can email documentation to the nurse, Sue Boodle sboodle@greenville.k12.sc.us
