Dear Parents:
Now that the cold weather is upon us, we want to ask you to remind your child to wear a coat, hat, pants, and mittens or gloves to school. We are outside for recess when the actual temperature is 16 degrees or above. A shortened “cold weather recess” will be in effect when the temperature and/or wind chill is between 15 and 20 degrees. In order to protect the health of our students, we want children to go outside wearing adequate protection.
Thank you for your help in reminding your child to wear his/her winter gear to school.
Mrs. Coale's Counseling Corner
This month is the counseling office:
ROAR lessons in Kindergarten and Second Grade
Zones of Regulation and Feelings Lesson in First Grade
Bully Prevention Lesson #2 in 3rd Grade
Life of Leaders (LOL Club)
5th grade small group counseling
Yesterday, our school participated in Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center’s ROAR program on Personal Safety. ROAR is targeted toward elementary aged children and is a fun interactive lesson in abuse prevention. Rex, the lion, empowers children to stay safe from abuse by teaching them his Rules of ROARing:
R: Remember, privates are private
O: Okay to say no
A: Always talk about secrets
R: Raise your voice and tell someone
These lessons took place in Kindergarten and Second Grade. If you would like more information on Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center’s ROAR program, please visit their website at: https://missionkidscac.org/what-we-do/prevention-education-training
If your child was absent for the lessons and you would like the parent information, please reach email me and i will get you a copy.

COVID Tests
Due to testing supply shortages and the burden on schools and families, SASD will accept positive and negative results from at-home antigen testing. Results from at-home antigen tests will be considered when someone is symptomatic or exposed to COVID-19. Families will be asked to report the following information: type of test, brand name, date of test, and result.
Student Vaccination Status
If your child has received COVID vaccines, including the booster shot, outside of district clinics, please provide updated vaccination status to their school nurse.
Dear Parents,
If your child(ren) wears a mask in school, please remember to pack an extra mask or two in his/her backpack. Our mask supply is depleting quickly so it would be helpful to us if you could make sure your child(ren) has extras.
Thank you!!
