The MCA results will be mailed to your home this summer after the state of Minnesota generates a report. Each student will receive a score that falls in one of four achievement levels. The MCA is not a test that students pass or fail.

Please make sure your student has the following items ready for testing:

  • Chromebook

  • Chromebook charging cord in the case

  • EarBuds/ EarPhones in the case

  • Cell Phone at home or shut off in locker

Following are a few ways that parents can be positive participants in your child’s testing experience:

• Encourage your child to do his/her very best.

• Remind your child that it is important to listen carefully to the teacher when directions are given and to ask any questions, if possible, before she/he begins the test.

• Make certain that your child has a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before leaving home.

• Offer encouragement and support as you send her/him off to school.

If you would like further information about MCA testing, the Minnesota Department of Education has additional information regarding the MCA available online at www.education.state.mn.us.

StringFest '19

Sixth Grade Students Attend JA BizTown

"JA BizTown is a 12,000 square foot simulated city located at our new state-of-the-art facility in St. Paul. Several weeks of classroom learning culminates in a day-long visit to this experiential learning lab where students become adults for a day. By working in one of 18 JA BizTown shops, students learn what it takes to run a successful business, manage a debit card and checking account, and work as a team. Volunteers are paired with small groups of students to help them make important business and personal finance decisions in their assigned JA BizTown shop. Through daily lessons, hands-on activities, and active participation in this simulated economy, students develop a strong understanding of the relationship between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the 'real world'.” (from the JA BizTown website)
Chloe Aanenson, a Mankato Area Public Schools’ #DakotaMeadowsMSstudent, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award recognizes people across the country who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve the community and country. It’s presented as part of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Congratulations Chloe! #MAPSready

Parking Lot Reminders

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please adhere to the following expectations to support safety:

  • Please be considerate of other drivers and the safety of their children.

  • Buses drop off students in the east lot near the gym (door #8) and pick up from the west lot (door #20) after school.

  • Parents drop off and pick up students in the east parking lot (door #8) near the gym before and after school. Please remain in a single file drop-off/pick-up lane. It is very dangerous when students cross moving lanes of traffic.

  • Use ALL of the sidewalk for dropping off and picking up. This includes from under the basketball hoops around the building to Howard Drive. Pull up as far as possible and students can walk to the door. This will allow more students to be dropped off at a time and the lines to move faster.

  • Main office entrance (Door #1) is NOT a designated drop-off or pick-up area before or after school. Our buses and special circumstances must have access to this area. ONLY vehicles with parking permits may use this area for drop off and/or pick up. Please respect this request!

  • Student pick-up for an appointment during the school day is located at the main office entrance (door #1).

  • Bikes must be locked upon arrival to the bike rack near the southwest corner of DMMS.

  • Students walking to school enter through the doors located on the east/gym (door #8) side of the school.

  • Activity buses pick up students for athletic practices near door #20, closest to the pond.

  • Students will remain outside until 8:05 a.m. for fresh air and movement.

  • Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria.

Please see the included map diagram for additional information.

Thank you for following these expectations and assuring a safe arrival/departure!
