Message from our Social Worker- Mr. Hofer
Dear Parents
We are off to an amazing start of the school year. It’s awesome to walk around Walker and see smiling faces. We want to see all smiling faces every day! Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. This includes tardies as well! Tardies = time missed and it adds up quickly. If your child is missing too much school, please reach out! We can help!
In Partnership,
Mr. Hofer
Message From Our School Nurse- Mrs. Vazquez
Hello Walker families,
Hearing and vision will take place at Walker on Tuesday, October 24th. Below, you will find the grade levels to be screened as mandated by the State of Illinois. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them on the day of the screening. You will be notified only if your child did not pass a screening test.
In addition, please keep your student home when he or she feels ill. Refer to the attached letter of when to keep your child home.
As we enter flu season, please instruct your student to cough and sneeze into their elbow as well as wash their hands frequently to stop the spread of infection. Refer to the link below for helpful tips.
