2020-2021 Attendance Procedures

Attendance is important for our students in any learning mode. Here are a few reminders to make sure that your child is in compliance with attendance policies.

In-person Learning (at school)

  • Teachers will mark students absent if the students are not in the building.
  • Absences will be marked unexcused if the office does not receive a written note within two days of the absence (an email will work).

Distance Learning (virtual)

  • The expectation is that students will log into their Google Classroom and be “live” on Google Meets for instruction during the day.
  • If your child is not able to attend live sessions, please contact the teacher for recordings and classroom expectations.
  • All materials and course work must be completed in a timely manner.
  • Paper materials must be returned, completed, in order to receive a grade and to be marked present for distance learning.
  • In addition, attendance will be taken daily through contact with the classroom teacher.

Water Bottles

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to use water fountains like we normally would. We have a big favor to ask our families! To help eliminate the need for lots of plastic drinking cups, we are asking each child to bring a refillable water bottle to school. Teachers will be having students bring bottles home on Fridays to wash, and we would like them return on Monday.

Thank you for helping us out with this issue!

Guthrie Theater Presents, Dickens' Holiday Classic

Big picture
As part of the Guthrie Theater's ongoing commitment to introduce youth to theater and engage them in the power of storytelling, they are making Dickens’ Holiday Classic free to all K–12 schools.

The Guthrie Theater will present a special virtual event featuring a cast of four beloved A Christmas Carol veterans who will reimagine Dickens’ hand-curated chapters for our students to enjoy in the classroom.

On Wednesday, December 23rd, we have an early dismissal. This is also a distance learning day for our students. We will not be sending home devices for this day of distance learning. Instead, we will be sending home paper-packets for learning. We do not expect this work to take all day for students to complete. This packet will contain about a 1/2 day of work- and may contain more fun learning activities. Please be on the look out for more information from your child's teacher about the expectations.

Second Semester- Opt-In to Distance Learning

The Ada-Borup School District is committed to the academic success and well-being of each child. Therefore, a distance learning option is available for families who are not ready for their children to return to school. The option will be available to parents on a quarterly basis. Students may enter the full-time distance learning option at any time and must remain in this learning path for the remainder of any given school quarter, or until the school changes learning modes. Families will be granted a two (2) week window to return to face to face instruction that will begin when families originally opt-in to distance learning, or on the first day of each new quarter. Please complete one request per child, if you are making the request for multiple students.
