Beginner Band students will stay after school and walk to Sachse HS together to rehearse once more before the performance. Dress code will be this years' band t-shirt with jeans/dark pants (no shorts) and festive accessories if they want (Santa hats, elf ears, blinking necklaces, decorated instruments - must not impede performance ability).

After the performance, please stay and watch the Sachse HS bands perform their holiday concert. There will also be a fundraiser dinner put on by the Sachse Band boosters that our band students/families are welcome to participate in!

Advanced Bands Holiday Concert

All 3 Advanced Bands will perform on this concert. It is a required performance and 2 test grades will be given - one for the performance aspect and one for their audience etiquette as they will be required to stay for the whole concert and watch the other bands' performances.

Please read this detailed information sheet for information about the dress code and arrival times. All students received this information prior to leaving for Thanksgiving break.

What Should We Be Practicing?

Practicing should happen daily to help build coordination and muscle memory and retain progress. Students should practice sitting in a real chair (preferably one that doesn't roll/spin), using a music stand, with a metronome. Please make sure woodwind players are properly swabbing out their instrument at the end of every practice session to keep their instruments clean!

Are You Handy? Like to Build Things?

I have grand visions of organizing our percussion storage room over the next few weeks because it's too small and we have too much equipment. If you happen to be handy and want to help build shelves for our cymbals, drum pads, and drum stands, please let me know! This picture is similar to what I have in mind.

Instrument Usage Fees in Skyward

If your student plays a school-owned instrument (oboe, bassoon, tenor/bari sax, French horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion, and select others), their district school-owned instrument usage fee is reflected in their Skyward account now. These directions to submit an online payment in Skyward should help you with completing that payment. Please let Mrs. Becker know if you have questions.
