Principal's Message

Beachmont Families,

I can't believe we are approaching the end of October!

On October 13th, we had our first school-wide celebration, "MEGA RECESS." It was the perfect day and students had a great time playing various games, decorating the sidewalk with chalk, and enjoying some warm fall weather. This celebration is a part of the Beachmont Four Bees Program that fosters a physically and emotionally safe school environment where all students strive to become their best selves. Throughout the month, staff continues to recognize students through "Buzz Abouts." These yellow tickets are sent home with students to show their families! Grade level teams are setting clear expectations for students that encourage making positive choices and to be consistently RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, SAFE, and KIND. We hope all students meet the expectations for our November Celebration!

On Friday, October 15th, we emailed out progress reports for the 1st Trimester. This is a great opportunity for families to see student progress, thus far. Our first trimester will end on November 23rd. Report cards will be distributed on December 3rd.

This is a reminder that there is no school for students on November 2nd. Staff will be participating in a day-long professional development through an organization called 5DP. This is a partnership between Revere, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, and Winthrop. We look forward to bringing back the knowledge gained on this day to our classrooms.

We look forward to another great month at Beachmont. Please read through our monthly newsletter and reach out with any questions or concerns.

It's a great day to be a bee!

Happening Around the School

Each month we hope to share what is happening in classrooms around the school. Teachers have been doing an excellent job of implementing our new Literacy Curriculum Programs("Becoming a Reader" and "Becoming a Writer") On top of that, our 4th and 5th grades are implementing a new Math Program "Illustrative Math." These programs are being implemented across the city of Revere.

We have two wonderful coaches Ms. Ruth Evans(Literacy Coach) and Ms. Laura Peet(Math Coach) that support teachers weekly with the implementation of these new programs along with additional support to improve professional practice.

This month we will highlight our 4th-grade team(Ms. Albanese, Ms. Amstutz, and Ms. Wylie)

In ELA... We are beginning our Traditional Literature Unit and started to write text-based essays.

In Science & Social Studies... We are working on our archaeology unit and using artifacts to infer how cultures have changed over time

In Math... We are starting to work on applying operations to fractions- specifically adding, subtracting, and multiplying.

Behavior focus: Last month we talked a lot about independent problem solving and initiating tasks. This month we are focusing on integrity and doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Great job 4th grade!

Monthly Spotlight

Each month we will spotlight a member of the "Beachmont Hive."

This month we interviewed our STEM teacher Ms. Heather Roberts. Enjoy!

Parent Coffee Feedback

On October 21st, we hosted our 2nd Parent Coffee. We appreciate those families that attended and also understand that 8:45am is not an ideal time for everyone.

In November, we will continue our monthly coffee, but will also look for additional opportunities for families to be a part of and to have their voices heard. Our next parent coffee will take place on Thursday, November 18th.

If you have any feedback you want to provide about the parent coffees, please fill out the following survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfizQ4-f0cA67THId7iGjeIKb18TOsAlRMc_jxSNYu7ZE1dkA/viewform
