Keith Fun Run
The excitement is growing for our annual Fun Run to be held on Friday, September 27th. Again this year, every runner will receive a free Keith Fun Run t-shirt, courtesy of Hersh-Beattie Orthodontics. Students will earn prizes for their donations and there are prizes at every level. We have some AMAZING prizes this year! The Fun Run is the PTA’s main in-school fundraiser for the year and our goal is $25,000. One hundred percent of cash donations and over 90% of credit donations are put right back into Keith. Our collection dates are September 20th, 27th, and our final collection date is Friday, October 4th. We are excited to offer and electronic method of donating. Here is the online link for donating:

“How much to give” is a very personal decision for you and your family. Keep in mind, if every student raises a minimum of $35, we will meet our fundraising goal. Each dollar helps to support the programs, events, and items we provide to enrich your child’s experience at Keith Elementary. This includes educational assemblies, classroom enhancements & supplies, Book Fair, Field Day, Popsicles with the Principal, Kindergarten RoundUp, Reflections Art Program, and much, much more.
We need volunteers to help make this a truly FUN and successful event. Please consider giving a couple hours of your time during the morning or afternoon shifts.

WLCSD reviews info on Reading Law
Walled Lake Schools teachers and staff have been communicating with parents for the past three years about the Third Grade Reading Law that was instituted in 2017, by the Michigan Legislature who wanted to ensure that students exit third-grade reading at or above grade level. This law impacts current kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students.
At Curriculum Nights at all 12 of WLCSD elementary schools, teachers and staff reviewed to inform information about the Third Grade Reading Law.
- Please review the Third Grade Reading video Catherine Kochanski, Walled Lake Schools assistant superintendent for Learning Services, leads with Sara Bruckman, Guest Elementary teacher, and Lori Burke, the Early Literacy specialist.
- Please review the WLCSD Third Grade Reading Law Fact Sheet.
