One Chip Challenge, Spicy Peppers, and Other Spicy Foods
Like many schools today, we have a few students who have participated in the viral “One Chip Challenge” or have eaten other spicy foods on purpose here at school. The challenge is to eat a particularly hot/spicy chip or pepper. In our building, this has caused several students to need to go to the heath office for burning eyes, burning tongue, and upset stomachs. We do not want these extraordinary spicy chips, powders, or peppers in our building as it causes a disruption to our academic day. Please talk about this as a family, and join us as we remind students that it is not a good idea to accept food from a classmate that has an unknown origin. We also encourage you to talk about social media and these types of viral challenges in general. In our work as an Edgewood community, we will continue to work with students on being perceptive and using critical thinking skills when it comes to social media and peer influence.

EPAT MEETING (Edgewood Parents and Teachers Group)
Join us for our next meeting of the school year on Monday, November 14, at 6:30 pm at Edgewood.
We are seeking a group of diverse parents to join the EPAT committee meetings. It is a very small time commitment to be on the committee, only 5-6 hours a year, but can be more if you take on additional coordination duties. We need to have a quorum to approve any budget items. The meetings are to discuss/coordinate specific EPAT Sponsored activities, approve annual teacher grant requests, fundraise and manage the EPAT budget. The committee meetings are held in October, November, February, April and July. These meetings are typically in-person at Edgewood.
Please reach out to the following contacts if interested in joining the committee:
