Involuntary Euthanasia

By: Lexi Rivera

Involuntary euthanasia is a topic that is greatly discussed by many people from all around the country and the globe! People deserve to have the right to make a decision if they want to get euthanized or not. Some doctors don't even discus euthanizing with the family or the patient.
Euthanasia is a very controversial topic through the U.S. and also many different countries. Euthanasia is mostly described as murder, use of palliative care to provide for a more comfortable, dignified death, and in most cases, the desire to die prematurely. The argument against euthanasia includes the slippery slope, that once the door of euthanasia is open, it becomes increasingly easier for ethics and laws to be changed. Euthanasia is illegal, it is the ending of a person's life and presents a threat to all people with disabilities, chronic physical and mental illnesses and the elderly.
Many people think that if involuntary euthanasia is stopped people will have possibly a longer life and this could also provide closure for families. They will have more time to talk it over and also wont be shocked if it happens. I believe that everybody should have a right to decide their path for the road ahead. There is always a chance of medical miracle which is not being accounted for when doctors make the decision to euthanize somebody. A person may not suffer forever as is expected in certain situations. A person may get better and that possibility is completely rejected when euthanasia comes into the picture. Doctors have misused euthanasia in the past. There’s no certainty that sections in the medical field, including doctors, will not abuse the law or the provisions in the future even more.
If you know anybody that has been or soon to be involuntarily euthanized please contact the police. Just a small town like Coppell could change people's life forever1
